Are you enjoying Street Fighter IV ? It's a nod to the golden days of fighters in the gaming industry, and fans everywhere are clamoring to relive the glory days in next-gen form.
If you're one of this group and you own a PlayStation 3, you will be very interested to learn that King of Fighters XII is scheduled to release on Sony's machine this summer. Check out this debut trailer for the game, which is not only colorful and fun to watch, but it also gives us a release estimate of "summer 2009," and there's one other intriguing tidbit: no other platforms are included in the announcement. It might make perfect sense that a King of Fighters installment would be exclusive to a PlayStation platform, and fighting fans would really want a shot at this one. It's fast and furious, with tons of flashy special moves and you'd serve yourself well by practicing with SFIV for a while. Are we seeing the rejuvenation of the genre that once defined the industry? The genre that dominated the arcades and was the lone reason many gamers gamed? We're already looking at Tekken 6 later this year, and with SFIV and SCIV already on the market and something like KoFXII on the way, is it time to once again embrace one of the simplest forms of interactive entertainment known to man? Gotta love it.
We'll have more information on King of Fighters XII as it becomes available; in the meantime, just feast your eyes on this trailer and maybe add yet another promising PS3 exclusive to the already impressive list.

I saw the same story on Kotaku.
I've read multiple sites indicating that it's PS3 exclusive. That aside though, this is awesome, Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millenium is possibly the greatest 2-D fighting game ever. And yes, better than Street Fighter 2.

Dude, I used to play SO MUCH CvS2 back in the day. It's actually the 2nd game I owned for the PS2 after Gran Turismo 3.
I actually REALLY liked the Color Edit feature in that game. All 2d fighters should have that. 🙂

The world is getting swarmed by fighting games, and the problem is that they have had so long to perfect it they are all good and I have little money.
Seriously I have Virtua Fighter ps3, Soul Caliber ps3, Mortal Kombat ps3, Street Fighter 4 ps3, and Street Fighter 2 HD. And now this! Why are they all so good!
It's a good thing!
Im more of a fan of Soul Calibur and Tekken than KoF. I might check it out if they have a demo for it sometime.
I hope this doesn't come out on a disc
I'm pretty sure it's coming out on BD for ps3 (as well as 360) and probably for the regular $60 price tag 😛 I would be interested in trying out a demo, i've never played any of the KOF games. But I really like the flashy 2d fighter style.
If you watch tne trailer, at the end, it only says playstation.
However I think it will be a timed exclusive, c'mon Sony prove me wrong.
I haven't bought a fighting game this gen I think i'll get this and SF4

Gotta get me some Mai 🙂
Oooh cool I didn't notice that. I've just seen it say ps3/360 on every other site so i assumed it was both, don't get me wrong … I hope it's a timed exclusive
It isn't. SNK announced it for PS3/Xbox 360 today.
Sweet!! 🙂
Why the hell does everybody (ok, not everybody) on this site thinks it's PS3 exclusive? Like Arnold said, it's always been multiplatform. Like it matters since if I do buy it it will be on PS3.
I wonder if we are going to be able to download this game. I hope they won't try to sell this for $60, it looks good though.
