We're gathering up the remainder of news and details from the Consumer Electronics Show, and…well, it's all about Killzone 2 . We're trying to be diverse in our news, providing new updates on Final Fantasy XIII , Gran Turismo 5 , and the new Grand Theft Auto (just revealed to be in development yesterday), but the gaming world is just KZ2 crazy.
Anyway, this is an interesting detail that helps to shed more light on the gameplay itself (which some of us have already experienced). In the past, when we shot an opponent in a FPS, we'd see one of maybe a handful of "death animations." But you may not see the same animation twice in hours of playing Killzone 2 , as a Sony representative has said there over 100 death animations in the final game. Basically, it all depends on where the bullet enters the unfortunate body; that will dictate the reaction, as it should. This could range from instant drops from head-shots to painful kidney wounds that cause the enemy soldier to collapse and writhe around in pain. This is the kind of attention to detail that sets Guerilla's shooter apart from the rest of the pack, and trust us, there's more in the way of jaw-dropping features. When you sit down to play, don't think you're playing "just another FPS;" what you're actually playing is a game that raises the bar for the genre. In the future, we're gonna want to see even more death animations, right? The more realistic, the more engrossing the experience.
Killzone 2 will ship to stores on February 27 in North America and the UK ("mainland Europe" gets it on February 25, apparently), and that will be a landmark day for this generation. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

what would be really cool would be to have a trophy once you've "collected" all 100 animations!
That could take a while if it reacts to the shot entry. Gettin someone to stay still for the shot in the foot death sequence would be epic.
I sure hope the gameplay stands up to the amazing production values. My apprehension, I know, will probably be shot once I get my hands on this game. But if you never look up, you'll never be disappointed, right?
No one has complained about the gameplay. Alot of "journos" have played the game and it delivers. From what ive heard anyways
dammit, i though uk was getting it on the 25th
COD4 has 12 ive counted.
That's a cool idea, englishgolfer. But since those death animations are so varied, it would be frustrating not knowing which ones you had seen vs. those you still need to see. Although, if there was a nice chart that listed all the different animations, and which ones you've unlocked, it would be much more forgiving.
Damnit, I want to play a demo NOW!
STOP IT BEN!!!
Every time i read a KZ2 article i want the game even more! I cant wait for this. I cant remember the last time i wanted a game this badly (well i can, but Pokemon G/S doesnt sound very manly, haha)
According to my friend who has an Xbox 360, there are in fact 6 million ways to die.
-1 for realism.
😀
What?!

Hilarity ensues. I thought there were only 5.8 million ways to die though considering that being drawn and quartered was now illegal in all countries and the other .19 million ways were abolished when ninja's were counted as just 1 way to die.
lol what are you talking about?? thats so over my head i dont think ill ever see it…….
Chuck Norris is currently adding a Bad Ass 1.2 million more ways to die so it really……
-2 for realism
lol
MetalHead: Just nit-picking the game like all the PS3 haters will once it comes out. No one will be able to find any real glaring faults, so they'll make up stuff like this.
Chuck Norris is pretty agile for an old guy… Just hope he doesn't roundhouse kick me in the back of the face…
some say chuck norris has a fist in his beard
I remember shooting a bad guy's ass in Goldeneye…..he would jump like he just got bitten…….lol, now that was cool.
Killzone 2 should deliver cause i must say Gears of War 2 kicks ass,the start was rather slow and boring but later it gets intense,it's like a movie.I just killed the worm, one of the most interesting levels.
I REALLY HOPE Killzone 2 can be on par with GeoW2 if not better.
Wait. You wanna compare the progression of Gears 2 to a movie? Careful, I hear people hate on those types (MGS4).
you may be in high right now during the middle of Gears2 but I'm warning you, don't get your hopes up too high for the ending. Sorry if it's a bit of a spoiler.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM thats alot of animations made possible by yours truly…. THE Most POWERFUL console to date! PS3!
That's a lot of animations for dying.
That warehouse video, where he throws the grenade was badass on ign. The ragdoll in the game looks great.
why not just use the euphoria engine like in gta iv, then the possibilities are endless…
Speaking about Euphoria engine, isn't their suppose to be a football game called backbreaker comming out this fall.It claims that there are different tackle animations all of the time! now just imagine if Madden 10 had GG and euphoria engine! WOW!
Kind of off-topic but; No. The latest news on the site is from august 07.. So I don't think so. I think maybe the football-thing is just used as an illustration. But i agree with you. It would be freakin great if madden nfl used the euphoria engine in madden 10.
that would be sick ill buy it just because that.
hope someone from EA or have ties with them are listing
i love it when enemies rithe around on the ground, you can walk up to them and say a cheesy line then put them out of their misery,,,hehe
You're a badass Schmitty, in a Chuck Norris kinda way 😉

i just cant wait to pick a unsuspecting AI apart with a hand gun!!!!
he he he he he
I never could figure out how to kick people while they're down. Though, it's been done to me numerous times.
*shoots enemy in chest*
"its just been revoked"
"This is my Boomstick!"
haha great moment in family guy
Troy if you are still talking about gears its x…
100 death animations…. this will make the game fun especaily if its all based on where u shoot them….
think of the possiblities- arm, knee cap, walk towards them, switch to pistol, HEAD SHOT…
that would be cool
To be honest, i didnt really know what to think about KZ2 until this article. At first i thought "it will be good but its probably just going to be another hype-machine letdown like halo," but then you tell me that there are 100 kill animations and it really makes me think…
If they put so much effort into something that most people probably wouldnt even notice how much detail did they put into the big events? Im beginning to think that this just might be the best thing to happen so far this generation.
I can remember playing the demo for John Woo's Stranglehold, and that having loads of different death animations.
The look of suprise when you shoot them in the hand!
Best one was the crotch shot….

will any of this be seeing online.
Eveh having 1000 death animations cant replace the fact of not having any sort of co op play…

yeah true but we can coop with wkc and that should not take long to come out
It should have a naturalmotion sort of engine. That would be awesome.
ok, now I'm exited about this game
I'm going to get struck by lightning as I download the demo, and survive only to be shot and killed during a robbery while I buy the game… That would be just my luck…
I'm gonna shoot somebody in the taint.
K…I really cant wait now
