Ben-DutkaYou didn't really think GTAIV would be the final installment in the blockbuster franchise, did you? Realistically, the only legitimate question was, "how much longer before Rockstar announces Grand Theft Auto V ?"
Well, it may not be that far off, and the actual release may be a lot sooner than you might believe. If you've seen the latest Game Informer, Rockstar North is apparently already hard at work on the next GTA entry. The evidence was in the Loose Talk section in the latest Game Informer, as it seems RockStar North is already working on the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, which should be ready for release this holiday season. How, do you ask? Well, we have no idea, but we imagine the team will use the same engine that was on display in GTAIV; they'll just create a new world using that foundation. Here's the quote in question:
"We're not talking about new DLC or a collection of previously available DLC, we're talking about a full retail game. We expect this title to follow the suit of previous GTAs and use a subtitle such as GTA: San Andreas, etc. Tokyo might be a possible setting for the game, but details are non-existent at this time."
Well, where do you want the next GTA to take place? And would you want it to be a historic piece, like Vice City and San Andreas ? Before Liberty City was confirmed for GTAIV, some entertained the notion of a 1920's Chicago setting, and both London and Tokyo were also rumored as possible considerations. Perhaps Rockstar will want to appeal more to the Japanese crowd with a Tokyo-based GTA, even though they can't possibly be unhappy with the sales of previous titles. We hope to have more information on the mystery GTA soon, and once we have it, we'll fill you in. Personally, I wouldn't mind a direct sequel to Vice City , 'cuz that was my favorite. Love the '80s. 🙂

i hope its a lot bigger than IV, IV felt small after playing san andres
would just love somewhere that isn't compact like new york was, more open land like san andres

Love me some GTA. I could easily see them announcing a new GTA for this year but I doubt it will release before 2010. Rockstar has got to be getting stretched pretty thin what with Chinatown Wars, Lost and Damned, and this all in the works. Tokyo could be tite, I think if they did one all about Vegas it could work, London or Moscow might be good too. As long as they keep it serious like IV I'm happy.
BTW if they did a direct sequel to Vice City that would be sweet too.

I say Vice City. I LOVED that game. Tommy Vercetti was a great character. I say base it after the events of that and bring back TV!
I was hoping for a subtitle entry. Can the GTAIV hating stop now? I think it was a solid benchmark, and all GTAs have some damn stupid thing about them. San Andreas was badass but what is with the exercising and sh*t? And the easy tire poppage in VC? You take the good with the bad with this series,I'm looking forward to details forthcoming.

I'd like to see another San Andreas. They did Vice City and Liberty City Stories, so why not a San Andreas Stories. In this one you could play as Sweet, or get really crazy and be The Truth. Either way, Im sure it will be a great gmae.

liberty city was the worst city they could have possibly chosen. It was the worst, dullest place in a game I've seen and it just pissed Me off. If they do it right, vice city, or san andreas (with more fu**ing features) would be the best game yet.
GTAIV proved to be pretty boring compared to the size. It felt empty and hardly worth playing again once it's finished. That needs to be redressed in the next game. A big city is great, but it needs to have enough things in it to fill the full city rather than just content for a city a quarter of the size stretched out.
They're should release GTA: Dark Ages with mighty drunken warrior tunes down at the pub ,get drunk with your fellow Swordsman and go on a rampage in the village of Algor with many more possibilities.
It will be vice city, its obvious.
They will follow the trend of the previous gen.
It's a shame it wont be a ps3 exclusive though.

They still havent released the 1st dlc.

Tokyo would be a cool place to put it. I've also always thought Brazil would be a good location as well. Something like in the movie City of God. Work your way up out of the slums. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

They can't even deliver he game within 6 months of the origional date, nor the dlc, so how the fu** will they release a whole new game by the end of the year. Rockstar games SUCK as a game developer now. They are just shameful.

GTAV. I dont care where its set..its GTA 95perent of the environment is fun. Most of the comments lean towards keeping the 'realism' theme. If thats the case its about time the Biggest brand game in the world got some licenced vehicles? Otherwise go back to when GTA's were nothing but colourful fun!!
If they make the next one as dark I firmly state it will be the last GTA i will ever buy.
They've annoyed me with the last one.
Also if it is in Tokyo Im expecting a dude with some kickass hand to hand combat.

Same sales were crazy all most evryone i knew at that time had 2 copies of the game just incase 1 got ruined.
I've lost interest in GTA Elder scrolls is just more hilarious
Too fast. I still need to go back for the Trophies on IV. Now it just feels like work.
