E3 2005: Third-Party Publisher Reaction to PS3

Needless to say, today’s unveiling of the PlayStation 3 at Sony’s pre-E3 press conference served to excite a lot of people; however, what might be even more interesting is the reaction from some pretty important third-party publishers. Representatives from Bandai, Capcom, Electronic Arts, and many others all had something to say about Sony’s new powerhouse.

Capcom’s Keiji Inafune seemed excited; in fact, he disclosed that Capcom was already hard at work on

for the PlayStation 3. He went on to say that the PS3 “is one piece of hardware that will test the mettle of our development team and help us to create some of the most amazing games, limited only by our imagination.”

KOEI Chairman Keiko Erikawa said that “President Kutaragi has thrown down a gauntlet” in regards to the PS3 hardware. Rockstar Games CEO Sam Houser said that with the PS3, “it looks as if it might be time for interactive entertainment to become, finally, the world’s dominant artistic medium.”

Square-Enix President Yoichi Wada showcased a brief demonstration during the press conference and said that “plans to bring the

series to the PS3 are just beyond the horizon.”

Now that the proverbial cat is out of the bag, E3 is sure fill in the blanks with some games to go with the hardware.
