Thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of video games from a Kinston, North Carolina Wal-Mart on Monday, and authorities are currently searching for the perpetrators.
A police spokesperson told WCTI12 that the two individuals stole the games from the store between 1:45 a.m. and 12 noon on Monday, May 12. That's quite the gap of time; if the store is open 24 hours, couldn't they nail it down a little better? There are surveillance cameras, too, so at least they got a shot of the suspects.
Yeah, this idiotic stuff is bound to happen. Although stealing a lot of video games seems like an awfully slow way to get a lot of cash, but whatever.
Uh, how? It had to be an inside job to get thousands.
yep. pretty much. it's to my understanding the majority of loss in retail happens internally.

A walmart employee told me the majority of theft at walmart happens before the products reaches shelves.
while I don't doubt that can be a reason World, the notion of employees feeling that they deserve more than their pay, resulting in their own justification for employer theft, still doesn't mean people who earn a lot relative to the norm are more honest with their money.
I believe an individual who feels unsatisfied with their compensation, and is honest, will sooner find a different job with their skill-set than to degrade themselves and society with theft.

I've heard that Walmart also takes out life insurance policies on their workers. So if their workers happen to croak before finding a decent job they cash in on them.
Unfortunately, Temjin, it's not quite that simple. Too much to go on about now, but a little look into the cycle of poverty explains the trap that is nearly impossible to get out of. It's rarely directly anyone's direct fault, either. It's usually a result of societal norms people get caught in or are raised within.
As for getting paid jack sh!t, it's that combined with unrealistic expectations commensurate to the pay. What I don't get is the unrealistic expectation for flexibility on the part of the employees rarely employed full time at ridiculously low wages, while the employer refuses to be flexible. It's indirectly making sure your employees know they aren't really worth much to the employer.
Yeah, sounds like an inside job to me too, especially if they were caught on surveillance, cause Wallyworld just isn't going to keep watching you go in & out without stopping you sooner or later at the store for not paying for their merchandise you've hidden, either on your body, or at a hidden location for a later pickup(most probably had to be the latter).
BTW, My local Wallyworld is pretty sharp on catching shoplifters(and/or employees) because very time I've gone in Wallyworld, there's always been 2 to 3 police cars at the entrance, which means they're hooking the cuffs on another thief in the security office.
I work loss prevention at a major retailer, you'd be surprised how these guys operate. Had one guy buying 12 copies of Madden then taking the discs resealing it with a machine he kept in the car and then returning the empty packages. Hit about 6-7 stores that we knew of before getting caught. Easily over a thousand dollars, he probably got about $5 per game though. But it's enough for some heroin.
