Well, if there's one thing Square Enix can still do, it's put together a kick-ass Collector's Edition.
The publisher has announced the Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Collector's Edition, which will be available on launch day (February 11, 2014) and retail for $89.99. The only irritating caveat is that it's exclusive to the Square Enix Online Store .
This enticing package boasts a silver embossed pocket watch, a voucher for Aerith Gainsborough's "Midgar's Flower Girl" outfit, an 80-page hardcover art book with never-before-seen illustrations, and a bunch of extra designs and illustrations. For instance, character designer Tetsuya Nomura's original artwork, including early sketches of the characters, are included, as well as a nostalgia section that showcases crossover costumes and series mainstays moogles and chocobos.
It sort of sucks that you can only grab this set through Square Enix's store, but I'm willing to bet that die-hard FF fans won't have a problem. I once counted myself among that legion of proud followers (and had their been Collector's Editions for all the FFs up to XII, I would've bought every one) but these days…well, let's just say I've moved on.

Lightning wasn't even my favorite character in FFXIII.
I don't know. I just don't have motivation for this game.
No one has a boner for Lightning.
Seeing her on yet another game case, with her waking-dead gaze, just makes me want to cry.
She does look like a zombie doesn't she?
I'm just going to pretend that this game… no.. make that this entire trilogy… never happened. Now SE can finally put all their weight behind KH3 and FF XV.
Not that I'd get it but for that price you should get all the DLC. It's funny how they are filling the game with stuff that people liked from other games like Cloud, Yuna, and Aeris' outfits.
I'm thinking there is going to be a ton of extra Collector's Editions for this game, folks should wait.
So basically you get traditional outfits of characters that made the franchise famous… interesting. They better pray this game gets a lot of good critic and user reviews because otherwise that will definitely hurt FF14.
You mean FF15? FF14 was already buried under incompetence. (yes, I also wish they'd stop giving Online games canonical numbers)
Why does it suck that it's only in Square Enix's store? Do they not ship outside Japan or something? If so that's really weird practise of them, I must say.

Probably cuz you can't get it at your favorite retailer, folks have rewards and points and other fancy doodads that keep them using places. I like to use Amazon cuz I redeem my credit card points for Amazon gift cards.
Aha. Ok. But no major crisis then. 🙂
Yeah, no Crysis 🙂 I would personally feel like a traitor to my cause if I ordered anything from the Square Enix store. I'd rather my money go to all the mid-level people between SE and me than to SE, they have become Shinra.
Good 7 reference there World, made me chuckle a bit. Sadly don't think anyone at SE will understand it now though!
No interest in the game, but I wouldn't mind having that pocket watch. I like pocket watches and that one is definitely unique.
Not paying $90 just to get the watch though.
Pocket watches rule. I prefer ones that you wind, not sure what kind this one is.
Me too, sadly they can be hard to find where I live. Most sold online are just cheap mass produced junk.
I'm looking forward to this game but I'll just pick up a game guide if I want to see a bunch of pretty pictures.
