Borderlands 2 Now Free For Plus Members

It's one of the absolute best and most addictive shooters of the entire generation.

And now it's free.

Free, that is, if you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber. Sony has revealed that Gearbox's award-winning Borderlands 2 has been added to the Instant Game Collection, which means it's free to download for Plus members. However, bear in mind that this will only work for PS3 and not PS4.

Furthermore, we're entering the second week of the enticing Holiday Sale on the PlayStation Store. There are some great deals available, including the Tomb Raider bundle set for only $15. As for Borderlands 2 , we called it a legitimate Game of the Year contender when it first arrived and indeed, it was nominated (although it ultimately lost out to Dishonored ). It did, however, win our coveted Best Shooter award for 2012. If you haven't tried it yet, now's the time.

Don't forget to keep checking the PSN for more holiday sales, too.

I had this pile sold on ebay for a good $14, but the bugger never paid. Now there's no way I'll get that much. Bah.

using 'alt-f' and searching the word 'free' produced 7 results =p

yah, I claimed the 'free' Borderlands 2 game but I don't know if I'm patient enough right now to give it a shot. It just doesn't look like something I'd like all that much.

however, Marvel vs Crapcom Origins is just $3.75.
That's my fav one. I now have permission to download and play it on my PlayStation 3 system. "Let's go crazy!'

You might dig it, it's like a modern day coin-op arcade shooter. Lots of different guns and you shoot everything in sight without ever getting caught up in a story. Otherwise, poorly done cell shading and virtually no creativity in the missions.

I love Borderlands but I still agree with Worlds description.

"coin-up arcade shooter" actually was a good way of putting it. They call it "shoot'n'loot" themselves.

But I really gotta say, Borderlands is best in coop. By far. This is a coop game, that's when it *really* shines. Playing it alone feels… Lonely. Especially after being used to play it with a buddy or two.

Temjin likes games that are pick up and bang out. I really think you could set Borderlands 2 up in a bar (specially modified to take coins/dollars/credit cards) and make a ton of money on the co-op. Can't believe nobody tries to broker deals with game publishers to make such a thing.

perfect game for +
a game with oh so much content it will literally keep you busy for hundreds of hours!
and a game, while yes popular, is not like the uncharteds or red dead redemptions, where literally every man and his dog has purchased it.

I played Borderlands 1 to death so it only took one and a half play thoughts to get burned out on Borderlands 2. I still downloaded the game. Note to anyone that plains to get PS Plus, upgrade your hard drive if you have an 80GB or less like I did.

Have the rumors of this coming to the Vita amounted to anything of late?

I have not heard that one but it would be great for Vita fans.
