Atlus Delivers Stats For Dragon’s Crown, Persona 4 Golden

Great numbers for a couple of really great titles.

Atlus has announced that Dragon's Crown has shipped 800,000 copies to date, and Persona 4 Golden has shipped around 700,000 copies. Both numbers do include the number of copies downloaded through the PlayStation Store.

Dragon's Crown is one of the most entertaining games of 2013 and remains a big hit with critics and gamers alike. Some came down hard on developer Vanillaware for the over-sexualized characters but the game itself is fantastic. Persona 4 Golden is another big fan favorite, but it needed a lot longer to reach 700,000 shipped; the game first released in June 2012. Remember, though, this is a remake of the 2008 PS2 RPG, and the remake is exclusive to the PlayStation Vita. That 700,000 shipped number seems a lot more impressive now, huh?

If you haven't played these games yet, you should definitely consider it.

u should really take a step back from assassins creed, the industry is now moving away from those games to Japanese Rpg's which defined Playstation

Well that was a bit uncalled for, if the chap doesn't have in interest in the games fair enough…

And regarding the comment on gaming going towards JRPG's, utter nonsense! I love JRPG's myself and if anything the majority of this gen the PS3 has had a serious JRPG drought! I actually bought a Wii last year just to get some form of a JRPG experience this gen – it really has been that lacking.

apparently you've never heard of a game called Ni No Kuni which released just this year which is a RPG made by Level-5 a japanese game developer and can't wait for Persona 5, have been playing Persona since 1996.

Ni No Kuni was awesome but hasn't even hit 1 million in sales.

Yes I have heard of Ni No Kuni… I played about 15 hours of it but it was beginning to remind me of how tedious Final Fantasy XII was, which is something I never want to experience again. The story was just so slow and it wasn't going anywhere. Ghibli's amazing art direction couldnt save it, I may go back to it one day, we'll see.

Loved them both on the Vita. Put 30 hours into these each which I think only scratched the surface. PS4G gets pretty grindy so that was the end of that for me. Haven't got the time or the patience to grind like a young un…
Both perfect games for the Vita.

I bought Persona 3 of the US PS Store recently as it was on sale for 5 dollars. I haven't played Persona game before, so I will be interested to see how this one fairs against my RPG hurdles. While it is very anime inspired, the art direction seems more unique from silly games like Time & Eternity, Atelier Rorona or Hyperdimension of whatever… Also, I loved Catherine this gen so on that basis alone I am willing to give it a try. If all goes well, a purchase of P4 on Vita TV could be possible.

Persona 3 is good but you are going to have to have some affinity for the visual novel style to enjoy it. (Yup, cardboard style cutouts chatting) Still an awesome story behind all that of course. The turn based combat is quite excellent, however the battle environments don't have much going for them. Persona 4 vastly improves on all of these if the game ends up making you feel too confined.

I played a few minutes of it and was trying to find the menu to go to the options and see if I could remove them… The annoying thing is the characters in-game are animated well enough, there is no need for it. Still I got it dirt cheap – It's really rare here in the UK now, so I will see how I get on with it.

Did you grab FES or Portable? I am assuming FES because I just picked that up a couple weeks ago for $5 can't wait until the semester is over so I can blow through all the games I have held off playing. Only one week to go!!!!!! =D

Dragons Crown is a gem. I love this game, there is so much content here and it is not a full priced game.

Yes there is repeating art, and reused assets, but the painstaking care put into each piece of art is astounding.

One of my favourite games this gen, just a real treat to play.
