Schilling: Kingdoms Of Amalur IP Is A “Billion-Dollar Franchise”

Former 38 Studios IPs will be auctioned off on December 11, with proceeds going to the state of Rhode Island. This is the result of the collapse of the aforementioned studio, which left the state on the hook for many, many millions.

There's no knowing how much those IPs will go for, although we have heard that major players in the gaming industry (pun intended) are interested. Even so, they may not go for what 38 Studios founder Curt Schilling thinks they're worth.

That's because, according to a recent Tweet , the former Boston Red Sox ace believes that Kingdoms of Amalur is a billion-dollar opportunity:

"If someone were to buy Amalur, put team back on it, it's a billion dollar franchise. 2 years later and still no ones done what we we're doing."

Uh…what were you doing that we've never seen before? Reckoning wasn't a bad game at all , but I don't remember it doing anything particularly innovative or evolutionary. And Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has predicted that Project Copernicus, the MMO 38 Studios never finished, might be worth $20 million. That's a far cry from $1 billion.

I mean, I know this guy needs money, but who the hell thinks the Amalur IP, Copernicus included, is worth a billion damn dollars?
