Naughty Dog Visits SpaceX…But Why?

Uncharted set in space? Or a new IP?

Naughty Dog artist David Ballard mentioned on his Twitter page that the developer recently toured Elon Musk's private aerospace company, SpaceX.

Developer Jason Paul Tweeted that he was "going to space," and gamers everywhere are theorizing that Naughty Dog's next project has something to do with the great beyond. Of course, it's possible that the team just went for fun, although it seems odd that multiple members would go for no work-related reason. Right now, the developer is working on a currently unannounced PlayStation 4 title; we're all assuming it's Uncharted 4 but if it is, how the heck does Nate get to outer space?

Naughty Dog's last game, The Last Of Us , was critically revered and really, just about anything this company does is high on our priority list.

This probably has nothing to do with Uncharted.

If anything they are probably exploring the idea is all.

He could just be screwing with us, if I was a member of a big game developer I'd always send out random tweets just to mess with people.

Companies do lots of things (in addition to monetary compensation) to reward their employees for a job well done! I'm sure Naughty Dog is no different.

I want uncharted 4 a ton. That being said, savage starlight could be my most anticipated game if it existed. Please naughty god!

I can see them seeing the current private technology as reference material for a new game. That way the storyline or theme would seem more plausible and believable.

As for Uncharted going that way. To me, Uncharted is finished with out heroes going in to the sunset. I would like to leave it that way.

I would prefer a new IP and something different from ND. Different for them. Could be interesting.

Keep playing!

My Feeling exactly.
Give Uncharted a rest, bring it back two years from now I say.
A space drama/adventure/action game from ND sounds great, would love to see what they can do with the new hardware and fresh ideas.

I'm thinking this would the TLoU team, as if the UC3 team isn't already fully immersed in their next project there is something desperately wrong. And again: please no Uncharted 4… at least not in the first cycle of the PS4.

The PS4 needs Uncharted 4, are you kidding me? You have millions of other people going against that very logic. Just because you want something different, which we got with TLOU, isnt a good reason for dismissing the idea that Uncharted 4 would get a lot of attention.

while I care little for it, Sony and ND are well aware that the the franchise can sell systems. So it'll happen relatively early in the ps4's life cycle.

Though this like you said is probably good indication of another part of the team looking into fresh material.

Why would they not make another game in one of the greatest game franchise of all time? It's not like it's stopping ND from exploring new IPs, look at TLOU.

Maybe research for a new scifi IP? I've thought about ND making a scifi game before. Would be an interesting thing to see.

Oh yes! Naughty Dog creating an epic space exploration game! Down very narrow corridoors and only in the directions they want us to travel, of course. With an array of pre-scripted events to ensure everyones experience is the *exact* same.

:p
