Ben-DutkaOctober will be a busy month. It will also give you an opportunity to play catch-up if you're a PlayStation Plus member.
As revealed over at the PlayStation Blog , there will be quite a few great games that Plus subscribers can nab for free. That Instant Game Collection continues to grow!
For instance, you could get one of the greatest games of all time entirely for free: Team ICO's masterful Shadow of the Colossus will hit the IGC in October, as will the entertaining, surprisingly large action/RPG that is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning . It might be interesting to grab Poker Night 2 , as GLaDOS (from Portal ) is the dealer and that oughta be pretty damn hilarious. As for Vita owners, they can get the critically acclaimed Hotline Miami and the beautiful shoot-'em-up Sine Mora if they so desire. Again, all free.
So, make sure to keep checking the Plus section of the PSN throughout October to see when these great titles are available to download.
I need more free time to keep up with all these free games. I haven't even started Rayman Origins, Machinarium,or Ico.
So they chose SotC for October when they chose Ico for September? Did the goons not figure it out that those who already owned Ico on disc ALSO had SotC? So those who are long time Playstation fans, which I'd imagine are highly numbered among the PS+ subscribers, are shafted now two months straight, PS3-side.
I also really hope come November Sony INCREASES the net quantity of 'free' (ha!) titles. This is because PS4 is entering the scene. Otherwise those who haven't jumped on board to PS4 right away don't have to share their quantity of titles to accommodate another platform.
…pretty sad all Vita's got to offer now is cheap'o tiny or old games.
EDIT: And yah! for Kingdoms of Amular… the bargain bin $5 game for months now…

It really blows me away that all the while Europeans get Far Cry 3, AC3, Dragon's Dogma, and SF X Tekken. You know? Fairly modern games of decent value that perhaps some of us don't have already.
I'm glad they put up SoTC, now I can play both.
I believe that EU gets the better Plus games because they have purchased more PS3s than NA. This leads me to assume that EU has more Plus subscribers. Therefore I believe SCEE can offer publishers / developers more money to allow their game to be on the EU PS+ program.

It's interesting that these great Euro PS+ games are coming from either Ubisoft or Crapcom. I've read into how the PS+ program benefits partners, and perhaps you're right. I've noticed outside of BF3 for the US, a lot of the quality titles coming through PS+ are from Sony's self published products, with smaller indie titles and lower budget game-ware serving as filler.
EDIT: I suppose the US just got an Ubi title, Rayman. But that game has been on a million 'under $10 sales' for some time now for various platforms, including the PS Store itself.

Oh for f*cks sake I just plunked down $20 for Amalur because I was tired of waiting for it to come to PS Plus. SON of a B*TCH!
Meanwhile Europe gets Far Cry 3 and Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen.
You have two options to avoid such frustration. one. You can just stop buying your games and let Sony choose them for you. Two. Realize collectors like yourself are better off shopping the deals and selection on your own terms. These games actual become yours, and not just a permission to play them under terms and conditions
Always wanted to play Amular, and wanted to grab Poker Night 2 a few times on Steam. Glad I waited.
So glad i hesitated to buy Reckoning. ICO is the one game on the PS2 that i hunted for and was thwarted at each attempt. I am most pleased with plus for the privelege. People who say plus is a waste of money are [insert passionate word or phrase here]. e.g. very nice.or very naughty. lol. imo the value and then some is already there.
