Ben-DutkaWe heard that the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster would hit Japan on December 19 , which made us wonder: When's it comin' to the US?
Well as announced over at the PlayStation Blog , it seems we'll be getting these anticipated Remasters some time "this winter." They say they're "thrilled with the progress so far." Glad to hear it!
If you opt to pre-order these two HD re-imaginings, you will earn a free upgrade to the Limited Edition art book package. It includes a few pieces of original concept art from the early development phases of FFX and FFX-2, and there are quotes and commentary from some of the original development team members. Apparently, this also features "a special message to you, the fans, from Producer Yoshinori Kitase." Oh, we already know the message-
A true Final Fantasy VII remake is coming. Book it.

That message better be "I'm so sorry for what we've done to your favorite franchise in recent years," or, "XVI Is For Fans".
It's a shame this thing is going to drag on until Spring though, but I guess they have to focus people on Lightning Returns.

Been saying this for years: I'm still looking forward to it. I'm actually a bit glad it's coming out later than I originally thought. I'm still working on the newest FF and GTA. Not to mention GTA: Online next month. Then all the new console crazyness. So yeah, gimme FFX/X-2 early next year.

Tidus' character model still looks wrong,, while the others seem to be fine Tidus now just looks like Pinocchio… which in a way makes sense… but it just doesnt look good.
There were 4 models of Tidus in the original I think, his face would often change appearance in the same cut-scene. Maybe they had trouble melting them all into one look.
Personally I don't see any problems with it, Wakka seems a little wonky to me but I'm not gonna nitpick with an actual FF game that's HD.
They seem to have done the same for this version too. The character model in battle looks different from the one when the cutscenes are at their finest. The rest seem fine, but there is something about Tidus which just looks so Doll like, it's really annoying me every time I see some progression on the HD Collection… I would have just been content if they ripped the content from the PS2 version and upgraded it to HD resolution and fixed the aspect ratio – Like the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection which was perfect.
What's far more striking to me than just faces, is the fluidity of the battles.
Have you seen the gameplay vids for the HD remake? It's like steady stream of thick molasses. Smooth. Very smooth.

I hope the pre-order edition comes with a steelbook case…I've never been one to order a specific version of a game because it comes with an art book, but I go GAGA over a thin metal case instead of a thin plastic one!
