Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Back Up For Digital Sale

Square Enix has had server issues with the newly launched Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn , but those issues may be waning.

That's because, as reported by Joystiq , the publisher has once again started selling digital copies of the MMO. They halted sales when reports of major server problems began to come in, and this even resulted in Square Enix handing out some refunds.

So, if you think the server woes are past, you might want to give it a try. Despite the technical drawbacks, the reviews for FFXIV's re-imagining on PS3 have been pretty solid, and MMO fans ought to give it a try. Game director Naoki Yoshida and the rest of the development crew have been awfully forthcoming about any problems they encounter, and they appear dedicated to maintaining and supporting the game. And besides, isn't it a good sign that the server issues were due in part to the large number of people who were trying to play it…?

Id like to give it a try, unfortunately paying a monthly subscription isn't something Im willing to do right now. But really all Ive heard is great things about it.

True. Not only that but there are other games out there too. Paying a monthly fee makes it hard to justify playing anything else.

I also pay for internet just so I can access the games servers which is upwards of $50 a month. I hate to be cheap but the cost of both is $780 a year. Now to be fair and reasonable I pay for the internet with or without it but the cost just to play the game is kind of outrageous honestly. Not to mention I still have to buy the game.

This is my problem with The Elder Scrolls online, I also have to pay for PSplus to play it. Sheesh.

Anyways my rant is over. I just wonder of there is another way aside from free to play to get this and other games like the Elder Scrolls into more homes where an upfront cost and a monthly subscription isnt warranted to play.

Cannot STAND monthly subscription fees for exactly this reason. I wonder how many more customers they would have if they ditched it? I'd be all over this if there was no fee.

I will add that I'm very pleased, and surprised, Bungie has said Destiny will NOT have a subscription fee. I hope that is the case both for selfish reasons and because hopefully they will demonstrate a great business model that does not include monthly subscription fees!

I think it is because Destiny is a different model of game, not considered an MMO? I dont know I havnt exactly pin pointed what Destiny is exactly.

Bungie may not ask for a fee, but they will most likely implement micro-transactions; they have to receive some kind of revenue for such an ambitious project, besides the initial purchase of course. Still, it looks like one of the few FPSs I may look into.

I look forward to try this one out on the PS4. I hear lots of good things about it, it's supposedly very good.

It's an improvement in every way compared to the original release a few years ago.

Might as well get it now. If you buy it for PS3, you get the PS4 version free later.

As for the technical issues, they disappeared a few weeks ago.

I like fees much much more than F2P micro-transactions. They just need to make it cheaper.
