John-ShepardTechland definitely has a thing for zombies.
The developer that brought you Dead Island is now focusing on Dying Light , which will feature a unique day/night cycle and a first-person free-running-type mechanic. It'll launch next year for both current- and next-gen consoles, as well as the PC.
And now, publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced a special Be the Zombie mode, which is exactly what it sounds like: Players will assume the role of the predator in this fast-paced multiplayer mode. Right now, you have to pre-order the game in order to gain access to this mode, but we have to assume they'll make it available for everyone at a later date.
In Be the Zombie, you will stalk other players as a night hunter, which is a freakish zombie mutation that has otherworldly skills like super speed and a grappling tool. This monster even has his own skill tree, so you can get faster and stronger as time goes on. We're interested to try this one out; provided the control is tight, Dying Light could be wicked fun.

The technical issues with the first Dead Island was somewhat forgivable,however,the same problems existed and weren't fixed in the second game so they lost my sale till I read the reviews.
With that said I am intrigued with what they are doing with this game.
Ordered Riptide recently, should be good fun.
Personally I'm getting kind of sick of Zombies. They are just getting to be way too over done. I understand that a totally new and original concept is pretty hard to come by now days, but they could at least mix it up a little. And by that I mean something more than just the cause of zombieness… zombiedom… zombification? Yeah, we'll go with zombification.
I will admit that for some games it just seems to fit, and Dying Light may well be one of those. Guess I'll just keep an eye out for the review on this on.
I'm tired of them too, thought I do like the free-running gameplay they've shown so far I'm putting all zombie games on my bargain bin list. I just found Riptide for $15 and that seemed like a proper price over $50.
