Dying Light Gameplay Walkthrough: A New Twist On Zombie Huntin’

Sure, it might look a little like Techland's other IP, Dead Island , but Dying Light really is a very different beast.

They've sent over a gameplay walkthrough that's nearly 12 minutes in length, and you get to see how free-running combined with strategic zombie hunting can be quite unique.

There's no doubt in my mind that Dead Island Riptide felt stale; it just didn't do anything even remotely new and in some ways, it felt even less engaging than the first title. But Dying Light is looking awfully interesting, as we will combine the first-person free-running mechanics of Mirror's Edge and the post-apocalyptic universe of something like The Last Of Us .

See what you'll have to do to survive…

I cannot believe how much the ripped of Dead Island with this game. It looks identical. What is worse is that… it doesn't look very good. The arms and legs just look wrong, especially the perspective of the legs with that drop kick. Also the combat looks quite clumsy. I can appreciate that the game is focusing on Parkour more than combat, but then remember how the combat did weaken Mirrors Edge as a whole.

The game will probably sell well, as it is Zombies. But the game seems to have zero originality and I just can't see it competing with Dead Rising 3 or certainly not with a Left 4 Dead 3 should it arise.

Is it "ripping off" if you're ripping off your own game?

Can they really rip it off if they created this game and dead island? I think this game looks better. The mechanics, the running, and the animations are way above and beyond what dead island made. Dead island looks like a mediocre unfinished game when put side by side.

As much as I begin to tire of Zombie games the gameplay mix here actually looks very fun, could be a co-op gem just like Dead Island. Being Techland I'm expecting a B-level story but that's not the reason to play these things anyway.

I thought it looks quite promising and the suspense factor is up there. I'd be really confused as to where to go in the dark though. Did anyone else feel that it got really dark too quickly?

I really didn't like Dead Island that much, but that's just me. This game could be my kind of Dead Island though

Okay I know I might get trounced on for this but it looks rather um so so. I see many games in they put in this. Such as what was mentioned in the article. Imitation is the a form of flattery?

Admittedly when I first saw the trailer with the WichedKid song.. it looked like someone must have really liked the look of Cole in inFamous and the electrified wrench.. well Cole from inFamout 2.

I am not much of a Zombie fan, Resident Evil 5 I found boring, not played Dead Island and a number of my friends said it was not worth it. Last of Us was not a zombie game but one about an infections. Semantics I know but a zombie is someone dead coming back reanimated… not alive but just a continuing rotting moving corpse.

Like I was bored of the whole Vampire thing in Television and film.. zombies well…. you know the rest.

BUT if the genre turns you on, or reanimates you back to life… then enjoy.

Last of Us did it for me… now I need something else. Come one October for Beyond Two Souls.

Keep playing!

I have been this psyched for a game release since Borderlands two. This looks very interesting. Riptide was pretty much a clone of the original but was still highly entertaining to me. Really looking forward to this depending on reviews of course.

I think this game looks great. My only complaint in this whole thing was how everything was blowing in the wind constantly, following the same loop. I think it makes the game look great to have that type of movement but having it always on it started to look a little weird to me.

Otherwise the parkour looks fun and I personally really liked Dead Island. Playing that game with 3 friends was just so much fun, and I imagine this will be like that but even more fun with the free running elements.
