A little while back, DualShockers found a beautiful figure of the Sorceress in Dragon's Crown ; it was first unveiled at an art exhibition in Tokyo. You can see pictures of the pretty little figurine through the link, but now the site is reporting that Japanese manufacturer Alphamax has stopped selling the item. Orders aren't being filled.
There's a mysterious notice that says all orders have been halted for "various reasons." The retailer apologizes but doesn't offer any details beyond that. So, what's the deal? Has this 1/8 scale statue pissed off the wrong people? It was bound to happen. The Sorceress really is ridiculously top-heavy, to the point where it's downright comical. But it is comical, yes? The developers mean no offense, certainly.
Still, there has to be a reason for Alphamax's message. And if the figure had simply been out of stock, they would've said that. Instead, there are "various reasons" why you can't get one. Hmm…

wow that is one crazy statue or toy. whatever the hell it is. in japan they get around censorship by tentacles going places as they are not actual private parts. i guess a lot of their stuff is girls with squids.

because it's a offensive, unrealistically proportioned character designed by a moron who doesn't know what real anatomy is… hope they don't make anymore statues or copies of the stupid game with,horrible character designs… jut because some guys want girls who may look like that(not that that's possible considering how the character is proportioned), doesn't mean we all do.

Nobody ever cares when a cartoon character has a comically oversized head, or feet, or hands, or really any part of the anatomy that isn't boobs and/or butt.
Can you imagine how watered down and boring this entire entertainment medium would become if all characters had to be designed as proportionally accurate human facsimile's? Just to avoid offending righteous prudes.
