Saints Row IV Dev Diary: We Do This For All Our Crazy Fans

Saints Row IV is only weeks away at this point.

You're itching to get out there and wreak lots of havoc, aren't you? Well, to get you further psyched for the over-the-top, totally absurd open-world experience, Deep Silver has released the first developer diary for the game.

In addition to hearing how the designers wanted to take the next step in the realm of creative ridiculousness, there's lots of crazy footage. In some ways, Saints Row is what Grand Theft Auto used to be, or perhaps SR represents what many would've assumed to be the expected progression of GTA. But Rockstar's franchise has gone in a different direction while Saints Row has just gone bigger, badder, more insulting and offensive, and overall, more ludicrous. If that's what you want, then you've come to the right game.

Saints Row IV launches for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on August 20.

Sorry Deep Silver, not interested.

In SR3 they went too far where they should have held back, and skimped in where they should have built further. And SR4 is essentially just an expansion of SR3.

Instead I lift my head and look for SR5 (or, the *real* SR4) in the horizon. That will be interesting.

Agreed completely with you Beamboom. They took the series in a direction that i dont like at all. I'm sure there's an audience for it but not the same fans of SR1 and 2.

One of the best things about that series was it's customization on almost everything. Volition and Deep Silver totally screwed that up and is almost a parody of itself at this point.

I'll most likely still try SR4 out but only at bargain bin price.I only have to wait for about a month after SR4's release to get my ultimate open world fix. It's funny At one point i thought the series could hold it's ground against GTA but that's now a lost cause.

Ya gotta love Devs that love you. So many don't really even care about the gamer anymore it's sad.

I bet this game was fun to work on.
