Well, it's a gigantic game, so maybe this isn't unexpected.
Rockstar has been answering some pressing fan questions over at their official website , and the details prove the sheer size and scope of the upcoming open-world title.
Firstly, it's interesting to note that while playing as one character, you'll be able to locate and interact with the other main characters. It might be tough to find them in the vast city, but you can do it…you just can't kill 'em. Secondly, we learn that the Xbox 360 version will come on two discs (no surprise there), and PS3 owners will have to suffer through a mandatory 8GB HDD install. 360 owners will have to do the install, too, but at least PS3 fans don't have to worry about two discs. And they actually get to play the game using, you know, actual high-definition technology.
Grand Theft Auto V is slated to arrive on September 17 for the PS3 and 360. There is no confirmed next-gen version.
Related Game(s): Grand Theft Auto V
Next-gen will be confirmed a few weeks or months AFTER the PS3/360 release.
yeah, this is the smart move, say nothing of it so you can maximize sales on current gen.
I wouldn't count on it too soon. Both GTA:SA and GTAIV came out about 8 months later on PC, may even take longer given the size GTAV is reported to be. Don't look for a PS4 (and Xbox one) version before then.
I assumed that if everything they were saying about the game was true, then the install would be roughly the size of downloading 'Grand Theft Auto IV' in it's entirety. I wasn't off by much.
This will take up 0gb on my hard drive.
LOL!
To be honest I don't think anyone is really concerned over the size of Installs. Since the Silm PS3's have much bigger HDD's than the initial release. I have about 60+ games and 300GB HDD and it's not even half full. So I really just dont see they issue nowadays.
I wonder if their is anyone left out there with the original 20 GB PS3 and has not upgraded there hard drive. I feel bad for them. But not as bad for them when Metal Gear Solid 4 came out. Same on you for not upgrading your hard drive.
I have the original 20Gb ps3
just stop teasing us and bring the game already
;D
what if you have a usb external hard drive, could you download the game install on it or does the game installs have to be installed internal?
just got the answer.
yes yes, thats nice R*, we now know how many discs it will come on and how large the mandatory install is.
now how about you give us some details we actually give a sh*t about!?
christ, not even R* has gone this long after announcement and still has not shown off a single live demo!
So… I'll pop the disc in and then find something else to do for an hour. That's been the case for a while now. Pretty much the only time my 360 or Wii get any play is when I get a new PS3 game and am stuck waiting for the install. Maybe I'll finally get around to playing BlOps on my Vita again.
