Most people don't associate Metal Gear Solid with multiplayer. But times are changing, aren't they?
During a recent CVG interview with MGS guru Hideo Kojima, the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will feature a "vast" multiplayer component. He added that this element will be created by Kojima's newly established LA studio, in collaboration with the main branch in Japan. Said Kojima:
"Yes, we plan on creating Metal Gear Online. Multiplayer right now is being created at our LA studio as well as us. We're working closely to create a vast multiplayer for all the fans."
Rumored to be a very open-world multiplayer experience, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out. The game will boast real-time weather, various vehicles and plenty of new gameplay features and we're fittingly stoked. We're also hoping stealth at least remains an option for much of the adventure. Stealth is still the cornerstone of MGS, yes?

Creating something that you already shut down? Ok.
Well I really liked MGO so I don't mind I guess.
Creating it anew I reckon.
Not even sure what to say here. Ummm… yay? Errr… who cares? I'm not sure how popular the original MGO was.
Feels like a cancer though.
Pretty popular I reckon.
It had it's handful of players. Haha
I hope it used a dedicated server system, MGO was one of the most cheat/booster/Glitcher run game this generation. Also i also hope its not designed to be relying strictly on headshots to score kills. In mgo is you struggled to HS quickly your dead simple as that. Other than that i have good memories of mgo. It was unique.
I liked their headshot better then any other game. I think, it might have just been that it felt like you had more control shooting then other games. Plus you had to have the right mods to really make it better.

Stealth horses. Like come on.
At this point, I am not too pumped for MGSV unfortunately 🙁 I will play it, out of brand loyalty, but I am not hyped like I was for MGS4. The whole voice acting thing, and the fact that Kojima seems to be conforming to the masses these days.

That was hilarious.
"Hey Steve, you see that fully decked out riderless horse galloping by there?"
"Indeed I do John"
"Does that seem at all peculiar to you Steve?"
"Not at all John, pay it no mind."
And here I thought I was the only one! I hope they enhance the AI… I mean, they see wet footprints and think of an enemy but a galloping horse is nothing? Lol
So excited for this! Metal Gear Online was the most entertaining online game I have ever played, now that MGS4's MGO is gone I am left drifting from game to game only to be disappointed.
i can already imagine how big this will be in comparision. That CoD and Battlefield. With Battlefields RUSH mode you have such a bigger open world to exlpore instead of just the tiny deathmatch maps. Now MGO will make this jump and possibly add veichiles to the mix.
Day one purchase, heck I can see myself buying a PS4 just for thiis game, Playing a Metal Gear for the first time is a unique experience, I want it to be as good as posible.
I have to agree with you. MGO was a awesome multi-player, had some great times playing it. Really like the events they added to it. Needed people to work together in them to do well or you were out the first round. The clan I got into on mgo was great to, people were active every night.
I'm a little torn on adding vehicles. I could see that going bad for some reason. Hope if they do add them, they have modes to turn them off.

As a long time MGS fan,I don't see the need to put multi-player in what is arguably the best action adventure franchise. I enjoy the game as it is. I didn't even touch the online portion when I purchased MGS4. >_>
i'm not as excited about MGSV as i was before i heard
that we're getting a ported version from the 360 :/
The Fox Engine is a specifically designed cross platform engine. How is it we are getting a 360 ported version again?
