Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut Goes Multiplatform

With the exception of some boss fights that just don't fit, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is still one of the best games of the generation. Trust us.

And besides, the new Director's Cut fixes those controversial boss encounters, and it offers several other upgrades and enhancements, too. Prior to E3, this fresh iteration was only confirmed for Nintendo's Wii U, but Square Enix has informed GameSpot that it will also be coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC later this year.

We don't know if this will be available as DLC for current owners, but that'd be very nice. This expanded edition will boast Tong's Rescue mission as well as the Missing Link DLC, along with "redefined" game balance and combat, improved AI, and updated graphics. If they really fixed those boss battles, this game suddenly becomes an absolute elite title, and a definite must-play. Do yourself a favor and play it.

The vanilla version is 'free' right now for PS+.

…I determined I'll have to go in on PS+ whether I like it or not. I was fine finding cheap deals on my own in physical format but seeing that Sony does do a somewhat decent job at delivering full games for 'free' or a lower price (thank you Uncharted GA, KoF, and NG SIGMA), plus decent discounts, AND it's the only way to game online (this part is big) I'll comply with just a little less than a grin when the time comes… maybe tommorow because my wife and I would like to play LBP Karting. It'll hold us over before we get a WII U and Mario Kart (jeesh, Temjin there you go again sneaking Nintendo into the convo 😉

You will be pleasantly surprised when you find yourself trying and liking "free" games that you previously had no interest in.

LBP Karting is almost certainly one of the "permanent" IGC games, meaning it will stay in the program until at least this time next year.

I sold this before I could finish it cuz it got boring but now that it's free maybe I can finish it if I have time some day. I just hope I didn't delete my save (doh).

I tried the game once, but got frustrated and sold it before completing even the first mission…

… dumb.

Correcting that error, I went on to get it again and just stay persistent – and it paid off. The game was amazing. So, considering what is being done, I am definitely curious about this new edition. Of particular note is the "boss fix." Though the boss battles were challenging, I didn't find them game-ruining. Or even worthy of giving up on. I guess I am wondering… what was the problem with the boss encounters? Really just curious.

The common criticism of the boss fights was not that they were terrible so much as they didn't fit in with the rest of the game. Each encounter pretty much forcing you to take your adversary head on without much variety like the game virtually always gives you. And it didn't help that the developer apparently outsourced those boss fights to begin with, adding to the disconnect.

Definitely picking this up. 'Human Revolution' is one of the highlights of the generation for me, but even then, I couldn't justify purchasing an entire console just for an enhanced edition of a game I already own (no matter how awesome). I'm just curious if they will be implementing 'The Missing Link' into the main story (as they should have done in the first place) or if it remains the same as before.

Just read the official announcement and going by that, it seems 'The Missing Link' will indeed be integrated into the game, which is absolutely awesome news for me. Them doing that seemed about as likely as 'Guns of the Patriots' getting Trophies, but this generation has been something of a wish fulfillment scenario (on many fronts, not all).
