It's about time for a revolution, wouldn't you say?
Namco Bandai has officially unveiled Tekken Revolution , which will be a free-to-play fighter launching exclusively on the PlayStation 3 on June 11. Yep, Tuesday.
The game will let players spar against AI players in its Arcade Mode, and you can throw down against human opponents in online ranked and non-ranked matches. Also, for the very first time in franchise history, individual characters can earn new skills. The fighters will each have Strength, Endurance and Vigor attributes, and we'll also get new Special Arts and Critical Arts moves as well. We don't have all the microtransaction specifics but you have to assume they'll play a significant role. Love 'em or hate 'em, they're here to stay.
As for the roster, it will start with eight characters: Paul, King, Marshall Law, Steve, Lili, Asuka, Alisa and Lars. It's a safe bet that more will become available in due time.

Free to play Tekken??? Ok, what happened here?
Hmm, I smell a catch from here at the Caribbean… and microtransactions is possibly one of the many ways that may be featured here…
Hmmmm. First Tecmo with Doa5: Core, and now Namco with this. Could a free play fighter from Capcom be their "surprise" for E3?
I'm downloading this asap tomorrow afternoon.
Same, love me some Tekken.
thanks for the free game! not buying any transactions :}
at last ill have a tekken for this gen. friend can dig in when he comes around
DOA 5 is doing it too, so totally lame.
From what I have seen it looks like they have just ripped features from Tekken Tag Tournament but made it a single player game. Good thing it is free as I wouldn't pay for this. I don't like the idea of stats in fighting games, Fighting games should be on level ground, this is why recently we have had patches to stop characters from being over powered like Sagat in Street Fighter IV – Not that Tekken ever did that to Alisa and Lili…
But overall this all sounded good until I read that last sentence – If it begins with 8 characters no doubt they will charge for more… oh what has become of this industry…
Nice. I'll be getting this tomorrow. I wish Heihachi was part of the lineup.. I'm sure he comes as a DLC option for $5 or something soon enough. And woo hoo for not being Tag.
First time hearing of this, and I have been a Tekken fan since Tekken 2. This is sudden and unexpected to me.
idc, where is Tekken x Street fighter?!
