Tales Producer Says Tales Of Symphonia: Perfect Edition Isn’t Real

Sorry, JRPG fans.

Earlier this month, we heard a report that Tales producer Hideo Baba would deliver a high-definition re-release of Tales of Symphonia and Dawn of the New World to the PlayStation 3. It was supposed to be called, "Tales of Symphonia: Perfect Edition" and it would be "a representation of the dreams and hopes of the fans, who have long been wanting it."

Unfortunately, in speaking to Joystiq at a European event, Baba debunked the rumor:

"So last weekend I went to Madrid, Spain – to expomanga. And I had a signing session with fans. And I was asked by one of the fans about this rumor. So he said, 'I heard of a rumor that Tales of Symphonia and Dawn of the New World are getting a 'Perfect Edition' on PS3, is it true?' And [my reaction was] 'What!?' [Baba laughs]. I didn't know anything about it so I was very surprised at that rumor."

He later elaborated on his comments when he spoke to JPGames.de, and said that while "something might be coming" to celebrate the franchise's tenth anniversary, the company has no concrete plans. "There are only ideas," Baba said. Therefore, if you were getting all excited about a "Perfect Edition," we sadly must burst your bubble.

Sorry Tales fans. If it helps, Onimusha isn't getting perfect edition either. 🙁

Doesn't mean it won't happen though. Just means there's nothing in the works currently.

Have faith, everyone. 🙂
