Ben-DutkaOne thing to remember: Just because a new generation of hardware is upon us doesn't mean the "old" consoles instantaneously die.
In order for publishers to continue making money, they really have to continue to release their games for the systems that have huge installed user bases. It's why you're seeing so many major cross-generation titles going into the PS4/Xbox One launches.
So, it's really no surprise to hear that Electronic Arts plans to continue to produce titles for the current generation of systems at least through 2017. Speaking at the Stifel 2013 Technology Conference in New York, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen made this plain . He also spoke about EA's exclusive "Star Wars" deal, which should prove lucrative for the publisher.
Don't forget how long we were seeing PS2 games after the PS3 came out. For at least three or four years, I believe. It takes time to build a user base that could result in appropriately high sales numbers for blockbuster franchises, ya know.
So we can expect more Star Wars games that are held back by the previous generation?
star wars the force unleashed was pretty good on the ps2. It was obviously lessened down from the ps3 version but still decent. Its what im expecting, a half-ened version of the ps4 version for the ps3.
It'll be interesting to see how they manage to work microtransactions into the games. Want a purple lightsaber? $3.00 please!
yeah and i bet 95% of those games will be sports games

come on EA, if you want to entice people into next gen systems your going to have to cut of support allot sooner than that!
i hope the cross platform trend does not last too long, a game can never be truly next gen until its left current systems behind.
the ps3 and 360 have been available for 7+ freaking years now, i think thats MORE than enough support, and titles, for said systems.
