The voting for the Madden NFL 25 cover athlete is over, and your winner is-
Legendary Detroit Lions running back, Barry Sanders.
Last week, we learned that the final clash would be a new school vs. old school clash featuring Sanders and current Minnesota Vikings superstar running back, Adrian Peterson. And after over 40 million votes were cast, it's Sanders who came out on top with 58% of the vote.
So he'll be gracing the cover of the game that celebrates a quarter-century of Madden football greatness. Sanders never got to play in a Super Bowl (hey, it was the Lions), which is unfortunate, but nobody ever questioned his ability. Many will tell you that no player in the history of the NFL could break ankles like Sanders. The person who might come closest? Peterson. Last season, he fell only 9 yards shy of breaking the single-season rushing record held by Eric Dickerson.
I still say it should've been either Jerry Rice or Joe Montana but that's because I'm heavily biased. So what?

Greatest rb EVER! WHOOOOOO! Montana is greatest qb ever and way better than overrated Manning punks. Rice …….. goat!
I love it. He was definitely one of the greatest players ever. It was such a shame how he was forced to retire.
As a long-suffering Lions fan, it's good to see Sanders grace the cover of Madden 25. Heck, it'll be the second straight year a Lion is on the cover! It's a shame the team is mediocre, at best.
