Soul Calibur V Goes Digital On April 23

It's time for one of 2012's most entertaining fighting experiences to go digital.

Namco Bandai Games America Inc. has announced that Soul Calibur V will be available for download via the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Games on Demand service on April 23. Featuring the gorgeous graphics and groundbreaking features fans came to love last year, this should be a popular item.

As the press release says, the latest Soul Calibur entry offers "the best in control, movement, and visual effects," which allows players to pull off awesome dynamic attacks with ease. The roster consists of over two dozen great characters, including the master assassin from Ubisoft's blockbuster Assassin's Creed franchise, Ezio Auditore. You also have the option of creating your own fighter, which is always a big plus for hardcore fans of the series. Lastly, you can jump online and challenge the best of the best, if you're so inclined.

Story-wise, SCV picks up 17 years after the events of Soul Calibur IV , as the tale of Patroklos, son of Sophitia, unfolds. But then again, nobody plays these games for the story, so who really cares? What the fans enjoy is a "refined battle system" and some of the most satisfying combat available.

Got to admit I didn't get far in this, the story mode kind of bored and annoyed me before I could ever get to my favorite part which is collecting items and building characters. Maybe this summer when I have time.

Better late than never. Any word on the price?

It'll be $20. Good deal.

I was thinking maybe it'd be PS+ and 'free'
But I suppose SCV isn't ghetto and old enough to be given out just yet. On the PS3 side of Plus that's pretty much the case. "Hey, here's old games you could ACTUALLY own from bargain bins for less than 10 bucks but are FREE for you from our service (terms and restrictions may apply)"
=p

I don't know, I got the European Special Edition (comes with a Making of DVD, Soundtrack CD, art book) for 1/4 of the retail price of a new release. I played it for a bit but the game while having some of the best graphics on the console I have seen, is lacking – A fighter without Survival Mode is no fighting game at all in my book.

Spent over 1000 hours on this game.. mainly in Creation and online fighting with friends. Shame it didn't have many other modes to expand its offline gameplay.
