Fatal Frame Haunts PSN This Week

If you ask true horror aficionados to name their favorite video games, there's a good chance that this title will be on the list.

Even though we don't have the official press release just yet, it was revealed during the latest PlayStation Blogcast that the creepy PS2 game from Tecmo, Fatal Frame , will become a PS2 Classic on the PSN this week.

The game followed the first adventure of Miku, a young girl who can see ghosts. Her brother was also blessed with the same ability but he has mysteriously disappeared, and Miku sets out to find him. She tracks him to a freakish old mansion where she finds her mother's Camera Obscura, a device that captures wandering souls on film. It's a really intriguing concept and it was done very well; future installments in the series were pretty good, too, but many will claim the original was the best. Or perhaps the scariest.

And in a generation where honest-to-goodness horror seems to have fallen by the wayside, the arrival of such a title on the Network should come as good news to many.

already put 20$ on my account so when this releases tuesday i can grab it right away. Really like the fatal frame series. Shame the 4th one was Japan exclusively (as far as i know) and it was a Wii exclusive. After playing the grudge, i do think the wii made horror games better.

Wonder if I should get this. I have it for xbox and never finished it but it was great and it might be nice to have on PS3. Too bad it's not an HD update.

I own this on PS2 it is one of my favorites.
Too bad is right, an hd update would've made me buy the game all over again.
Its good to see some of these gems aren't lost and can be appreciated all over again thanks to the PSN.
In a way I'm envious of those gamers who have no idea whats in store for them once they start playing this.

wish developers would do HD updates of these titles, no matter how good the games are its just too painful playing a ps2 game on a 40+ inch full HD TV!
i had to stop playing allot of wii games i loved simply for that reason, and wii games had much better graphics than ps2 games!

I found the best way to cope with that problem is an upscaling a/v receiver that way it will resize the image in the best way suited for your tv.

For me a noticeable improvement was using a PS2 w/component cables and playing in progressive mode
or if you own a BW compatible Ps3 hooking that through a receiver that upscaled improved silent hill 4 even without turning Ps3 [smoothing] on.
