Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut Hits PS3, PSN On April 30

If you're looking for something a little freaky, you might want to give this a try.

Rising Star Games Inc. has announced Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut , which will launch exclusively for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Network on April 30 in North America. Scared yet?

The horrific title debuted on the Xbox 360 back in February of 2010 and was generally well-received. But it was one of those games that was all over the critic board; i.e., it suffered a 2 out of 10 at Machinima but landed a perfect 10 out of 10 at Destructoid. Anyway, The Director's Cut features a bunch of additions and improvements that should make this effort the definitive version of Deadly Premonition . Check 'em out:

New Scenario – Surprising new scenario from the game's director, Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro that will please new and hardcore fans alike

HD graphics – complete graphic overhaul with new HD textures

Improved Controls – reworked control system and mappable controls allow for an even better combat experience

Downloadable content – Expand the mystery beyond the original game and let Agent York (and Zach) live it up in Greenvale – Details TBA…

Okay, so action has replaced much of the horror in your favorite scary franchises. But at least you can still turn to titles like this, right?

Totally getting this. Its actually one of my favorite 360 titles of all time. Really. Wondering on pricing though. The 360 version was only $20 if I remember correctly. A Gamestop employee thought I was nuts when I purchased it because of some of the review scores it was getting.

Never heard of it, what's the storyline? I'm intrigued…

Plot is similar to the old TV show Twin Peaks. Its a open world, survival horror, murder mystery game. With strange characters (the character you play talks to an imaginary buddy) creepy atmosphere etc.

Sounds interesting, yeah, I remember Twin Peaks.

So basically the main character is crazy and the game has a Lynch atmosphere? Like Mullholland Dr. creepy feel?

Kinda. Haven't seen Mullhollend Drive yet so I can't say. But it most definitely does have a Lynchian feel to it. The town has you explore has a bunch of bizarre characters. For example, there's an old rich guy that wears a skull like gasmask. But it isn't just the story, characters and place. The game itself is kind of "off" in its own appealing way as well.

The game is soooooooooooooooooo bad. Its like the film "The Room" Its so bad that you can't help but love it. So happy this is coming to ps3, cause this game is beyond amazing. This could even end up as my personal GOTY

I was sold until I saw the DLC. If this game is a re-release – which even though it never was on the PS3 it pretty much is. I expect that DLC to come with the package.
