After securing the victory in 2012, Electronic Arts looks to make it a repeat performance.
…sounds like a good thing, doesn't it? But in fact, the award the video game publisher "won" in 2012 was The Consumerist's "Golden Poo Award," which goes to quite simply the "Worst Company in America." And once again, EA has been nominated for 2013 .
Participants were chosen by reader nominations and then the list was trimmed down to 32. In the first round of the "tournament," EA will go up against ABInBev, the company that brings you beer brands like Corona, Stella Artois and Budweiser. EA is the only game-specific corporation in the running, and other familiar names are competing for this year's Golden Poo Award. There's Apple, Wal-Mart, Bank of America (which lost out to EA in the final round last year), Ticketmaster, Time Warner, Best Buy, Dish, etc. We're not sure exactly what qualifications and details are assessed in each round, but it sure is entertaining, don't you think?
Just this week, EA CEO John Riccitiello resigned , saying he wasn't able to fulfill ambitious obligations. Gamers have been disappointed with EA for a while, although they're still not as often in the gamer doghouse as Activision. The CoD publisher isn't in the running, by the way.
I can't believe how stupid EA has been. They do all this crap and they wonder why their sales were below estimations. I wish developers would stop using them as a publisher.
If walmart or BOA doesn't win I rage quit right now!
Ubisoft modeled Abstergo on EA.
….EA is a sucky game maker whose steady decline is a bit like watching the last few years of Anna Nicole Smith's life, just one big train headed for one very big cliff. Now…BOA and Walmart…both are evil parasites that should be banished back to hell.
EA themselves don't actually make any games (though they own a ton of development studios), they just fund them and distribute them. Its a shame really because there are tons of talented developers that they are involved with but then EA has to go mess it up.
I think the color scheme is all wrong for this award. It sends a mixed message in my opinion.
see EA?
this is what happens when you turn your beloved franchises into sh*t!
into something they never were, and never should become!
ubisoft, your next!!!!!
SimCity pretty much won EA the title again this year.
