Rain Screenshots Show Off An Engaging Albeit Wet Atmosphere

The concept behind Sony's ambitious Rain is intriguing: It's a world where only rain makes certain things visible.

When it was announced at last year's Gamescom event, it reminded everyone of the innovative and highly creative works by Thatgamecompany. But this is made by the talented folks at Japan Studio ( echochrome ) and it looks as if it could be really special.

The rain will allow the characters (a boy and a girl) and a variety of odd creatures to be seen, and the accompanying classical score is fantastic. Now, a handful of new screenshots have surfaced; they're separated into dry and wet pairs and show off the production's atmospheric potential. Some taglines include "Sometimes rain reflects loneliness" and "Sometimes rain brings melancholy." This could be one of the year's best downloadable games.
