Well, this is somewhat alarming.
David Hayter is the voice of Solid Snake and has been for some time. His voice has become synonymous with the iconic character, so to have someone else voicing Snake might be tough for the hardcore fans to handle.
Is Kojima and Co. courting another voice actor for the role in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes ? Or is Hayter simply considering passing on the project? He ran an informal poll via his Twitter page , asking gamers to respond to the following question- "How would you react if I didn't play Snake in the next Metal Gear?" 303 people answered and nearly 1/4 of them (24%) said they absolutely wouldn't buy the game if Hayter didn't play Snake, and 64% said they'd be "Sad/Angry." Only 12% said "No Big Deal."
This poll indicates the possibility that the main man won't be back to play Snake. On the other hand, maybe no final decisions have been made, and this poll will have some impact. What do you think?
Related Game(s): Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
This is not allowed.
If there's a good reason, we shouldn't be too miffed.
Just as in inFamous 2, many people will get all huffy about a change in actor; then, assuming that Kojima can find a suitable and capable replacement, the fans will realise that the game is great regardless of the iconic voice.
I'll miss the staple of Hayter's voice, but I'll be able to move on.
Except Infamous was 1 game. Hayter has voiced Snake since 1998. Kind of a big deal man.
We're talking aboot David Hayter here. One does not simply not listen to him whilst playing Metal Gear.
Yea this is a little different than inFamous. We are talking about a legacy here, not a new ip. Completely different.
Die hard MGS fans will be upset because he's more than just a voice. Not only that but he knows how crucial he is to the games. What actor has ever been selfless enough to ask the fans how they would feel? Not many. Thats why he is important.
Maybe they don't want to pay his price.
I wouldn't do it for the money if I was the voice of Snake. As long as I can pay my bills and my hobby.

He looks younger in this one. I don't think i would mind to much. I've only played MGS4, but even so i don't think i'll miss his voice to much. Not because it wasn't good but because like i said above, he looks younger. Sorry to the fans who are disappoint though.
its not the same snake as the snake you played as in mgs4.
You really need to play the other MGS games…
maybe he is using the poll to get a raise
imo, if the voice actor change is as bad as it was with infamous 2,
he will really be missed.
ah hah. I think I just found part of the reason Infamous 2 sold over a million less than the first game. It is because Suckerpunch messed with Cole.
This poll by Hayter could be a preemptive move on Hayter's part to show Konami his value to the series. Like many have said above me hayter has been part of the MGS legacy since the start. I cringe when I think of another voice actor playing Snake, I have long fantasized about placing an order at Mcdonald's with Snake's voice. Yes, I know I am strange.

This would be even more idiotic on Konami's part than it was on Ubi's part to replace Michael Ironside as the voice of Sam Fisher. What is it with companies and moronic thinking these days on decisions that should be freakin' no brainers? I swear it's like only Sony's first parties have a clue. Bring Hayter back, he is Solid Snake.

really, who cares!?
ill never be able to understand why people chucked such a hernia over silly little things like this!
just sat back and laughed my a$$ off when people reacted to cole, dante, sam fisher, ect, ect.
couldent believe my eyes the backlash ubisoft got when they announced michael wont be playing as sam, come on guys hes OLD!
old people kinda cant go around combat rolling like he needs to, well not without breaking a hip at least!
just put it this way, if a characters not being played by his usual voice actor is the biggest problem of your day, consider it a pretty f*cking good one!
MGS without Hayter is like eating spaghetti without the noodles! Incomplete!!
I can't let you do that Dave.
I never liked his voice. Thought it was too deeply wussified. Bring on a real man's voice, like Stallone's or , wait for it, ….. VAN DAMME ..DAMNIT!!!
Hell no. David Hayter not doing the voice of Snake is just not acceptable. This man has been the voice of Snake for almost 15 years now. His voice is what brings Snake and Big Boss to life.
People who compare this to Cole and the like are wrong. This is far different. Hayter's voice is used to tell SO much of the MGS story. Cole's voice and appearance a person can get used to. It was the second game in the series. We're talking 15 years of Metal Gear Solid saga.
I would love David to do snake again but I have heard so many great amateur impressions of people doing Snakes voice that as long as it sounds like Snake I'm cool with it.
It would suck of course but as long as it sounds like snake that is all that matters to me.
If you know me on this board at all, you know I'm a HUGE MGS fan. And I'll be the first one to say that as iconic as Hayter's Snake voice is, it's so over the top, such a caricature of Kurt Russell's Snake Plissken in Escape from New York (which was ITSELF a self-aware parody of what a movie "tough guy" should sound like) it would hardly break my heart if Konami decided to go finally let it go and get a more believable voice performance. Same goes for all the other voice actors in the series — they're so over the top they're funny, but I wouldn't begrudge Konami if they aspired to more a believable and convincing style.
oookay the game is suposed to hit this year yet theyre still lookin for voice actors?
