According to Joystiq citing a Best Buy listing , a pearl white version of the latest PS3 Slim model will be hitting store shelves in Canada later this month. Cool, right?
The bundle in question features one year of PlayStation Plus membership (common in PS3 bundle packages these days) and the 500GB machine model, with a retail cost of $299. That's Canadian dollars, presumably.
The release date is January 27 so if you want a sleek white PS3 decorating your entertainment center, then you might just have to spring for this pretty console. For the record, a white PS3 is now available in Japan, Europe, Australia, and soon, Canada. The US…? Yeah, we must not like colors. If someone could please explain to me why we never get different colors for our gaming hardware, I'd really appreciate it.
Do we have some sort of obscure law against brightly colored electronics?
It certainly must be what the idiot execs at SCEA believe when it comes to console colors.
I would have sold unwanted family members to have gotten the blue PS3 that Japan got for the GT5 bundle.
They don't want to burn our retina. Would look nice next to my Dreamcast though.
The white is pretty cool. The new PS3' though look cheap and ugly. I would never have one in my house. I dont mind the original slims so much – although ugly in comparison to the phatties – but these new PS3' are just horrendous.
I know it keeps production costs down and thats a perfectly logical reason especially towards – what we think is – the end of this console generation.
You really wont see the detail of the Ps3 unless you swap a game or something. Sitting from your couch, all you'll see is the shape and a relatively small and thinner Ps3.
Yeah that thing is sad, I saw my friend's over the weekend. That top slide thing is lame.
What sucks is that it doesn't have the same mechanics for discs like in the phatties. The super slims are okay but would choose a pearl white than the black one so the top design would be a little less noticable.

This is where Sony really confuses me to no end! Why not offer Black, Red, Blue and White PS3's to every region of the world? Why do they do it this way? If they are worried about a certain color sitting on the shelves in Wyoming then give us a site where we can order what ever color we want. I would love a Blue or Red PS3/PS4.
I was also not understanding why they differentiate between regions with PS+ free content. But that was smashed when they released Darksiders to the US for free with PS+. Looks like the will be releasing EU's free content to the US and vice versa. At least I hope I am correct on this assumption.
Canadian and us dollars are about the same now. Which one is stronger flip flops couple cents one way or the other.

Damn… If I'd known this was coming I would've waited a couple months instead of getting the black one. I just assumed that like the US, we'd never see any other colours.

AU havent received the white ones yet either.
we only get different colors for the controllers.
i actually like the new look of the new slim console, it looks allot classier and more stylish than the plain slim.
its a shame it looks and feels so cheap though, i wish $ony would of gone with a corrugated rubber instead of plastic for the disk tray.
would of made it look and feel much nicer!
wish they put the protective finish they had on the fats on this slim as well, the piano black areas scratch SO easily!
i barely ever use mine, and its never been moved in the 3 months that ive had it, and 2 weeks after i purchased it looked like a tiger had attacked it!
what happened to the good old $ony who always use to put out really nice looking products?
$ony use to be like apple, they always put out the most beautifully designed products!
wish they would go back to that……..
