Dead Island: Riptide Dated, Rigor Mortis Edition Revealed

If you enjoyed the first Dead Island and are anxiously anticipating the follow-up effort, you might want to spring for the extra fancy edition.

Today, Deep Silver has announced a special North American Collector's Edition for the upcoming Dead Island: Riptide . It's known as the Rigor Mortis Edition and the contents were decided upon by the fan community during a fall 2012 survey. Yep, your choices!

The goodies included are "extremely limited" and are available for pre-order at retailers across North America and Latin America on a first come-first serve basis. Priced at $79.99, the special edition boasts a zombie hula girl bobble figurine, a bloody zombie arm bottle opener magnet, and a bungalow key with a branded wood key chain. Furthermore, purchasers will receive the Dead Island: Riptide Special Edition, which includes a "treasure trove of extra DLC content and a helpful digital strategy map." It all comes packaged in a sweet Dead Island replica suitcase.

Also, don't forget that Riptide will have character import options for those who want to carry over their save file from the first game. Co-op will once again be a critical element of the experience, and there will be a new playable character class, fresh gameplay mechanics, and boats to drive. Sounds wicked fun!

Dead Island: Riptide will be ready to go on April 23 in North America.

I think I'm one of the few people who really liked Dead Island. Get it for cheap and you will have lots of fun playing.

I, for one, am looking forward to Riptide…

okay one dead island wasnt too bad the whole rpg crap was just that… crap
but anyway i want to know what happened to the dlc wasnt there suppose to be like 3-4 more dlc things for dead island?

20 bucks says half the dlc for dead island will be in this sequel game or whatever it is..how bogus

also so that everyone knows the regular edition is only 50 bucks im pretty sure (maybe cuz they feel bad that they really are ripping us off with DI 1's dlc lol) so can you justify 30 bucks more for all this? idk better to wait for a further price drop on the standard game

You don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about.

fans voted for THAT crap!?
a bobble head!?
thats it its official, aliens really have been sneaking into peoples rooms at night and removing their brains!

really hope they have removed the fetch quests for this.
actually really enjoyed dead island, for some reason killing zombies was just so god dam satisfying!
but the repetitive go fetch x of this, go fetch x of that, go fetch x of that, really drove me nuts!
wish they would remove the weapons breaking system too, whats the point of giving people really cool weapons to use, make it so much fun to use them, than make them break so easily?
come on the WHOLE point of dead island is to have fun ripping sh*t apart!
you should be encouraged to use the weapons as often as possible, not punished!
