Assassin’s Creed III Is Ubisoft’s Fastest Selling Game Ever

A blockbuster in every sense of the word, we'd say.

Today, Ubisoft has announced that the critically acclaimed Assassin's Creed III has surpassed the 7 million sell-through mark, making it the fastest-selling game in the company's long history.

Since the popular title's launch, gamers have racked up over 82 centuries worth of gaming time and have committed over 3 billion in-game assassinations. As for the multiplayer entertainment, more than twice as many people have joined that fray in comparison to last year's Assassin's Creed: Revelations . So far, there have been over 250 million assassinations performed in more than 5 billion multiplayer sessions. …those numbers are just ridiculous.

Said Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key:

"The reception for Assassin’s Creed III has been exceptional, and this success has positioned the game among the best sellers of the 2012 holiday season”. We knew we had something special on our hands when Assassin’s Creed III was launched, and we’re really excited and proud to see how much fans are enjoying the latest installment in the franchise."

Also, don't forget the ACIII Season Pass, which boasts The Tyranny of King Washington, an all-new single-player campaign told via three episodic content packs. If you haven't been one of the millions who are currently enjoying the game, read our review to convince yourself of what you're missing. It's a pretty special adventure.

It really is a great game. The sales are probably because its the next full title where people kinda saw revelations as a smaller title.
Not to mention all the $35 black friday copies that sold.

Anyone know of the 360 vs ps3 sales? Just wondering if the extra mission made people pick the ps3 version.

According to VGChartz:

PS3 3.19m
X360 2.95m

So it's leading according to their figures, but not by much. Still, it's a lead! 🙂

Thanks for the info Beamboom. Warms my heart to see the PS3 version on top. No doubt the PS3 exclusive content helped. Hats off to Sony for securing that exclusive content on such a high profile game. 🙂

I think the fact that AC can kick out spinoffs that have guaranteed sales and also make big changes every 3 or so games for a big boost in gamer love is going to help it not run into the wall that CoD is looking at in the rest of the decade.

just goes to show how much sales dont indicate quality.
in fact quite the opposite, its almost come to the point where only disappointing games sell well.
its almost like you have to look to the poor selling games to find a decent title!
