But maybe we're finally getting the white PS3 model in the US: According to Examiner.com citing an Amazon listing, SCEA will release the newly redesigned PS3 in a spiffy pearl white color. It'd be a 500GB machine and it would also come with a free one-year membership to PlayStation Plus.
Hopefully, this is true. I love black and everything but we should have at least a couple options, don't you think? We've got some extra colors in the controller department (love my silver DS3) and there's the occasional collectors bundle that sports a special game-related theme, but for the most part, we don't get much cosmetic hardware love in North America. If accurate, the new white PS3 bundle will retail for $299 and go on sale on January 29. If you're looking to nab a fresh PS3 system for whatever reason, that might be the time to strike.

$299 Slim PS3 with a "free" year of PS+? Really? That's either just terrible wording or bad business…
I'm confused by the bad business part. The bad wording as well considering a years worth of plus is X amount of dollars, that would be excluded with the purchase of the console. Maybe you were thinking it should just be something like "included with the purchase"?
Let me guess, you are not from the US are you, Dirt? I too have reacted on the use of the word "free" in the USA.
I bet you are from Europe somewhere? Here in Norway it's even against our marketing laws to put it like that unless you do not have to buy the PS3 to get the free subscription. *That's* free according to our definitions.
So like Big say here, the correct way of putting it over here would be "included with".

I love my silver DS3 controller, unfortunately the left analog doesn't click right (after 2 years), have to replace and re-solder and solder a new one. I got a white DS3 on black friday for 35 bucks.
I like how there throwing in a year of PS+ free.

Much like some of you, i too have a favorite ds3 controller. its coral pink. ive also seen a digital camo one thats rather snazzy as well.
and speaking of snazzy, this pearly white ps3 is rather sexy. if something was to happen to my ps3, id look into replacing it with this one.
This is great. I always felt that the ridges looked much better on the white PS3 than the black PS3.
Well maybe I'll be getting one of these. Tonight, I saw a yellow light, followed by a flashing red light, followed by no light and the distinct smell of burning electronics :/
I might just send it in and get a refurbished one. I don't want to lose B/C and SACD playback. However, if I do go with a new model, the white would be a welcome addition.
not only NA, the whole world besides JP rarely sees these things.
i wish they would do a silver on the rims and white on the disk tray ripple part that would look nicer.
and please replace that cheap shiny black plastic!

If you need a new PS3 but can wait a few more months, I'd wait until the day after they have announced the PS4 on next years E3. I'm pretty sure that's followed by a pretty decent price fall.
I like this Pearl White one a lot. Seems to match the model perfectly.
I may have to get myself a second PS3!
