Well, the first Black Ops had a few problems on the PS3 so maybe this won't come as any huge surprise.
Although there's no doubt that the biggest launch of 2012 broke all sorts of records in its first 24 hours, quite a few PS3 owners have taken to forums and message boards to complain about various technical issues that evidently plague Call of Duty: Black Ops II .
Many of those problems have been outlined at NowGamer : Freezing appears to be the most common malfunction, as this has happened to a lot of gamers during the single-player campaign and when playing online. Sound drop-out has been reported as well, and many haven't been able to connect to a game, as they've seen the error message, "Servers Not Available." Initial attempts to fix the issues (deleting and re-downloading the new update, for instance) haven't worked.
This all being said, Treyarch boss David Vonderhaar says he hasn't experienced any problems during his play-through, and they have to reproduce the issues in the studio before they can provide us with a fix. If you have a complaint, you can tell 'em about it here …uh…maybe after the forums come back online. Right now it just says "Forum Maintenance in Progress." Rough going out of the gate, huh?

"Some" players might be having issues, but my sons and I were able to play about one hour problem free.
That seems to be a trend for you and I, haha. I still havnt had any issues with MoH.
I've had issues, it's frozen for me about 5 times already in maybe 3 hours of online play, but when I can actually play it's great…until it freezes 20 damn minutes later.
Same here with the freezing. it happened twice in a row when in the Player Lobby. Instead of risking any damage to my harddrive, I went to make my emblem. until the BO2 servers were shut down…
Once again, as was MOH, I have had no issues. I have played probably an hour of the SP campaign and my son and I played some split screen MP with no issues. Seems weird that others keep having issues and I don't. Guess I am just that lucky. HA HA
I will say this though… the servers were offline this morning.
It will get sorted.
This isn't uncommon. It happens every CoD launch. The campaign issues maybe less of an issue at release, but the online is never prepared or functioning correctly at launch.
This was precisely my argument that yea CoD may be the king of MP, but it shouldn't get the pass, especially when MoH did not.
Anyways, so who wants to play? I'ma give it a go. If that don't work out, I'm gettin' deep into AC3. But again this isn't anything new!
Correct. There are always small inconveniences on these titles.
There is a ton of people playing this game, in fact, I saw the leaderboards on the PS3 already had around 1.5 million people on it.
Hahaha, everybody goes straight to multiplayer. 😛
Maybe it's one of those specific PS3 model problems. Between Phat, Slim, and Super Slim, and the many revisions along the way, perhaps some are seeing quirks that others are not.
I think your on to something.
Temji, you wanted to know how I liked The Amazing Spider-Man in 3d. I got it a few days ago. It pretty awesome. 🙂
Jawknee,
I personally think that Spider Man was the best 3D movie to date. I saw it in the theatre and was blown away. I didn't get to see Avatar in 3D but I heard it was amazing as well. I loved Spider Man and am actually thinking about buying a 3D tv just for that movie so my wife can see that version. I realize she won't get the same experience but it would still be better than the plain movie.
Yea they did a great job. Better than most. Prometheus and the Avengers are pretty good in 3D too though I agree Spider-Man turned out much better.
I didn't like the avengers in 3d. Well I shouldn't say I didn't like it, I just wasn't blown away by it. I've quit watching movies in 3d, but I still want a 3d tv. Maybe I'll enjoy it more at home.

My friend and I bought a copy because we wanted zombies and figured he was over enough we would split the cost of it and play split screen at my house.
I'm playing through the singe player and have had zero issues with the ps3 model I'm playing on right now. It is a slim 120gig model I think?
Interesting that these issues are going on I wonder if its more an issue with the peoples PS3s like Temjin said.
I haven't played competitive multiplayer just campaign and zombies but neither so much as hiccuped so I dunno.

I have the same model as you but I've experienced many problems, although only online.
I have the same model, although I have put in a new HD for 500gigs. I haven't had any problems either. One of my friends has had constant problems.
BTW Ben, Declassifed review?
My friend got it and he has no internet and it tells him he can't play without getting an update.
Seriously, wtf?
Ha thats unreal. Sad how you have to be online to play even single player (D3) all gaming companies are going to lose business. They just assume you have a connection and if you don't…too bad.
That's straight up stupid. Gonna have to USB update, maybe? Or is that even possible for games?

I think the problem is the way the COD games are. Most games don't access the internet until you click that option. The COD games all access online servers from the start so it will not access the server without the update. This is a huge oversight by Activision. I guess they don't believe that there are people still out there gaming without internet access.
Damn, I did as Ben suggested earlier & had myself a BLOPless 2 day.
All I know is that I played Burgertime on my Intellivision today & I wound up with zero problems.
Plus tonight, I've gotten all the way to the Juggernaut train in Damnation, with only 1 hic-cup(my character got glitched, stuck himself in a simple water puddle & froze my controls up. Luckily it was only a minute after the game last auto-saved).

IDK if this counts but… I was playing GTA 🙂
i had a faultless night last night, i think it could be down to the age of the console too. my copy ran smooth and very well all night.
It's because of your general calm demeanor dillon, it relaxes your video games too 🙂
No problems whatsoever for me – much like MOH -Played it for about 4 hours today and apart from the wife giving me grief it was a positively delightful experience.
BF3 was the last online game I had problems with on my PS3 – actually ended up trading it for the 360 version.
Why was your wife giving you "grief"?
I'm always happy when my wife wants to chat. Something bothering her? Well, K/D be damned, I'm going to put down my controller and hear her out. 🙂
It's one thing if the wife wants to talk about something. It's another if she just doesn't want you to play.
I'm with you on that though Underdog!
I haven't got my copy yet. Hopefully they'll have an update soon.
no issues here. There was an update when I popped it in for the first time today.
im about 5 hours through and havent had any issues yet.
i wonder if this is more of a system specific problem like skyrim, or if it really is the game.
just seems to be strange how many games lately have been having problems but only with specific parameters.
I am pretty sure this is related to network issues due to a combination of incredibly heavy load right after launch and the hosting of the games are done on the gamers machines (who randomly goes on- and offline by the millions). There's a lot of communication going on between a LOT of clients and the gamematching servers these days.
I bet these issues will more or less "sort itself out" once the load reach a more normal level.

I think you're correct. This happens every launch and they are never prepared, or just can't handle the load.
Either way it will sort itself out, because they never do anything to correct these issues. And as always some will be there for the life of the game.
there's also a lot of skirmishes from other sites and consoles trolling a lot of ps3 forums about the way this game runs, but that happens on every cod… actually it happens on any AAA.game that's released for multiplatforms. so i wouldn't take what everyone is saying about it not working as gospel, sure there will be cases but its a million miles from broken imo.
It's true, I have experienced one freezing moment while ending a match and going to lobby. I also experienced the servers not available error. I just kept trying and it finally worked after about 10 tries. This happened only once, other than that this is the best CoD yet! The game itself runs flawlessly on the PS3. I have had zero performance problems as it's liquid smooth.
I had so much fun last night. My step-son and I, yes the Borderlands 2 snubber, played split screen online COOP in MP last night with me. We had a blast and I had no idea you could play online with someone sitting right next to you! He was able to choose his login as well so he could save his progress.
They will need to patch these problems but with so many people playing their game I have no doubt there will be ample examples of their errors. Black Ops had a lot of problems with connection issues as well. So far this isn't as bad as Black Ops.
Cannot wait to get back to it. The maps are amazing, the best I have played in the series. I didn't even try out Zombies yet because the MP is so good. Level 8 now and hope to get to at least 15 today. If you are on the fence give it a try, it's a great time!

you can also play coop on different accounts too, so you can both level up, thank god! lol
My games been fine so far kick off one game first night (to be expected as everyone under the sun who got it calmouring to be online etc) since then it's been fine last night and today.
Hahahaha
Only issue I've had with it is that it fails to start online matches at times. It'll say "waiting for more players to balance teams" yet the lobby is already full..A few connection issues during gameplay but corrects itself after a while. No freezing during the campaign so far though.
That is something that CoD is known for. It's an issue they just don't care to resolve among others.
I must've forgot..I haven't played CoD in almost 2 years but decided to get BO II since I didn't like Warfighter too much..
Yea, it's just one of those things that gets brushed off I suppose because it will work itself in time.
It's just crazy, I've played every CoD and every problem seems to roll over to the next like nothing wa everyone to correct it. CRAZY!
But they are still enjoyable! 😉
the only game I have ever played where the online was a solid on the last day I played it as it was on the first day I played it was Resistance 1… god bless you RFOM.
I know its not a homage to RFOM, but in BLOPS2 theres an MP map with an aircraft carrier.. it just 'feel's like that map from RFOM, which is pretty awesome in my book.
@Jawknee you should try Underworld :Awakening they actually did seperate scenes just for the 3D. I'm looking to get 3D,but am having a lot of problems trying to decide on manufacture and passive or active.
lots of issues this morning – can't get on. I created a UK psn account so can play on their servers – but I get kicked from time to times as playing in Canada likely slows things up UK side
Sorry to hear about you guys having issues. I haven't had any problems as of yet. There are of course going to be bugs, and rest assured they will get fixed.
At one point in the campaign, Mason glitched out and wouldn't move. He just kept swaying his arms around. I had to restart the mission.
