Several big titles hit this week and one of them is bound to satisfy the racing fanatics.
No, it's not a simulator but it's almost guaranteed to be oodles of high-octane fun. It's Need for Speed: Most Wanted , which is essentially a NFS/ Burnout hybrid that is designed around the premise of open-world freedom.
The launch trailer is here a few days early (the game is slated to release on Tuesday) and it puts the emphasis squarely on the most appropriate feature: Hot cars. Hot cars going fast. Hot cars going fast in a variety of different locales around a really cool city. Remember, this is Criterion Games, not the team that gave you The Run ; rather, the developer responsible for the much better Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and the awesome Burnout Paradise .
By the way, I've had the game for a day or two and the review should be ready and rarin' to go by Tuesday night…presumably. This Hurricane Sandy crap could seriously hinder me next week.

Excellent trailer. Can't wait to get this Tuesday. Hang in there with the Nor'easter Ben,if thats where you are. And don't let the Cape Cod Chip factory get swept into the ocean either.
Yeah, I'm worried about this double-trouble Frankenstorm too.
The news & weather keep saying that once the hurricane & that cold front collide, it's a high chance that it will be worse than any rare 100 year storm we've ever had.
I just hope that there's not another damned power outage again(we lost everything in our refrigerators), or a massive flooding here cause I'm only a 1/2 mile inbound from the Atlantic Ocean.
Since being laid off, I don't even have the money to go anywhere else for the week so I've got no choice but to ride it out.
Wish all of us Mid-Alantic & Eastern Seaboard Coasts "good luck" cause I've got a feeling we're going to need it.
Freedom Or Fire,
This isn't gonna be a Nor'easter, hell I'd gladly settle for that if it were a N'E.
Sounds like it may be more powerful and affect a larger area than the 1991 Hallowe'en storm (aka The Perfect Storm). Hang in there. Hopefully it'll hit at low tide to minimize any coastal flooding
Its interesting that the commercials have been sony branded.
Glad to see sony still has good relationship with EA. (Seemed like EA was drifting towards Microsoft)
HUGE question:
Will we get the full game this time or will we have to pay for the pricey-as-all-hell-and-already-in-the-game DLC a la Burnout Paradise???
I can't think of any AAA gamee these days that doesn't have some sort of paid DLC set to go in the pipeline.
Why the hate for Burnout Paradise though?
Did you forget that in there was 8 months of no-cost updates (game changing content) that included additional freeburn challenges, new freeburn game modes, new vehicles (Rai-jin and Olympus), Burnout Bikes (and their associated freeburn challenges and burning routes). All that stuff needed to be downloaded and I assure you was not already on the disc.
All the paid for DLC arrived a year or more after the game was released. The Island came 16-months after launch, that was not something they sat on for all that time.
There is a nice PSBlog article about the Vita version being almost the exact same game as the PS3 version with exclusive races! Sounds like a game that was really taken seriously on the PS3 and especially on the Vita! Nice work as I am already seeing a good review of 9!!!!
I think a big reason for that is because that the Vita version was being made along side the other platform versions (PS3, 360 and PC) by Criterion themselves and not farmed out to some other developer.
While speed points are linked to your account and follow you, there is no "cross-save" feature. So one achievement on the Vita version does not apply to PS3 version. Also, again not sure if it's a technical issue, but online mulitplayer is capped at 4 players on the Vita.
Yes I agree with you. It's nice to see Criterion take on the Vita project themselves. 10/30 is an amazing day!
This is SOOOOOO a Vita buy for me.
edit/ hadn't heard about the exclusive races! Thanks Crusader!
