Ubisoft: Far Cry 3 Is Different, So We Don’t Worry About CoD

Most games, especially shooters, should be petrified of launching anywhere near the seemingly omnipotent Call of Duty: Black Ops II .

But don't tell that to Ubisoft.

Slated to launch only a few weeks after Activision's mega-blockbuster hits store shelves, Far Cry 3 is a highly anticipated title, although some feel it may be negatively affected by BOII and Halo 4 . But those who know Far Cry realize that it's a little different; it offers an experience that you really don't get with most other shooters, primarily due to its open-world style.

Here's what Ubisoft brand manager Henri Guay had to say about Far Cry 3 facing the potential threat of Black Ops II :

"Far Cry has always been a little bit off the map in terms of the offer that it gives. People are going to continue to play Call of Duty and people are going to look for experiences that give them something a little bit different. We feel we’re in a comfortable spot.

I think we’re in a lucky situation where Ubisoft, through all levels of the organisation, was ready to make a commitment to the brand. To have the support at an organisation level to say we’re committed was great."

Product manager Dan Hay added that the team "wanted to make it as great as it absolutely can be," and it seems they're not worried at all about the competition. When you've got a game that stands out from the crowd and consumers recognize that it's a little different, you might just have a winning formula. Well, you also need the quality as well, but we're not too worried about that, are you?

I just get the feeling FC3 is going to solidify this franchise where it was a little bid dodgy in the last two.

I loved FC2, so I already know I'll love this one even more now that I can mess with the wildlife.

Take that, P.E.T.A.

Looking forward to this game. Hopefully them enemy re-spawn issue from the last game is better managed.

@World: Dunno if u referring to the console version for the first game, but I thought the original PC version was excellent at the time.

Its still a shooter though – releasing in the same timeframe as BLOPS,MOHWF and HALO4 is suicide. Crysis 3's release timing is a lot smarter.
