BioWare: “Much More” DLC For ME3

The Extended Cut is here but that doesn't mean BioWare is done supporting Mass Effect 3 .

As gamers wrap their minds around the content designed to address the ending(s) fiasco, BioWare producer Mike Gamble has teased more extra content in the near future. Just check out his Twitter page :

"Would now be a good time to talk about how we're doing more DLC in the future? That was a trick question. We'll save the future DLC for future chats. Don't worry though…there's much more."

We've already received the From Ashes DLC, which was available on ME3's launch day, and then we got the Resurgence and Rebellion multiplayer packs, which popped up a few months later. The Extended Cut just dropped this week and with more downloadable content headed our way at a later date, it appears fans won't get tired of BioWare's epic RPG any time soon. Of course, it remains to be seen if the majority appreciate the Extended Cut…die-hard fans can be a tough bunch.

I could've predicted that. The DLC could've cured eight forms of cancer and the fans still wouldn't have been happy.

That much was obvious from the start.

Seriously. Haven't had a chance to watch the new endings yet but Ben's got it spot-on. It literally does not matter what the endings were going to include. The really loud complainers of the endings aren't unified in their complaints at all — some people hate that they couldn't "win" the end as much as they'd like, others were outraged there weren't dozens or hundreds of customized cut scenes awaiting them, tailored to their every choice in the series, others call one or all of the endings "unrealistic" in some of the events that transpire (I think that's my favorite — completely fictional technology reacting in "unrealistic" ways!) and on and on and on.

@Telly I totally agree, do those same people understand it take time and money to actually put that much into one game. Should Bioware have done that…HELL YES…but they didn't need to because they wanted to tell a story while give us the illusion we had a choice in a destiny which we do and don't. Those choices can only go so far in the construct of the creator predetermined path because at some point all these random paths connect back to the primary path. Fans want more, but in the construct of reality it's hard to do what they think is plausible, but in reality is near impossible.

As far as stuff just not making sense in the end…this is sci-fi. Nothing about sci-fi makes sense thus is refered as sci-fi. lmao

Ehem… As a huge sci-fi fan I have to respectfully arrest you right there, FM23. Good sci-fi makes a lot of sense – and the sub-genre "hard sci-fi" strives to even scientifically make sense, within the scientific theories it explores.

But good sci-fi makes sense, although maybe not in regards to what first meets the eye. Often the sense is found in the symbolism and metaphor layers. And the different sub-stories during Mass Effect 2 are all filled with good old sense about fear of the unknown, what it means to be loyal, love and hate, complexity of politics and beliefs, how there's always at least to sides to any story, about reason behind behaviour, the difference of good and bad… All that and much much more.

Gotta love sci-fi.

I would just like to say the extended ending seems like the ending that we should have got in the first place. Sure there are still some plot holes but it does a much better job at letting you know what the heck actually happened. Especially since people we so confused about the ending they made up the indoctrination theory.

There are still a lot of questions I personally have but I think what they gave us would have satisfied most people if it was what was done first. Even if it doesn't actually show an ending tailored to your choices through the three games its still pretty decent.

I think the unhappy people are still complaining about this dlc because it should have been in the original game. But whatever, we finally got it, it's free. And it explains pretty much everything we asked for, and adds additional cut-scenes after the original end. *Spoilers* I still don't see why they used Star Child as the catalyst. They still didn't explain that in the game. Maybe in the future they will. Overall I'm happy. The game feels more complete.

Not being sarcastic, I'm seriously happy to see that SOMEONE who didn't like the original endings is happy with the DLC! At least it was free, right?

ZoeButterflies,

I haven't even gotten into any of the ME games yet, as they're still in my huge gaming collection backlog(probably around 800+ games still to do)

So just an FYI when putting in spoilers.

Try to leave any spoiler sections further down from your other comments, & then leave a gap after the words *Spoiler Alert* just because the way it now reads, we can't help but see it, even though it's accidental.

I think it was alright to take up arms before due to the false advertising but NOW it's too much and people need to shut up and be happy instead of trying to have the last word.

Sounds like alot Bioware have already submitted to, right? Whilst Casey states that the DLC fixes misinterpretations, brings more closure and shows more detail, – I hate to break it down to you – it shows you how terrible the original excecution really was. To top it off, the biggest flaw (gotta' play all 3 to understand it fully) is still present.

In all honesty, the ending of Mass Effect 3 is so flawed from so many different directions that it shatters the entire series to dust. It would seriously require a full blown rewrite to patch it up. I'm not over-exaggerating. And I know people are acting rash, and whilst I personally wouldn't rage so much I can understand their emotions, which is why I feel a tad uneasy when users on this site judge those who've had their experiences ruined. For many, the Mass Effect series is their Final Fantasy. Wait, shit…that's ruined as well. Sad times.

Had you recieved the most optimistic of endings, Mass Effect 3 at best is a game that lets you down gently with epic cinematics and Mansell's awesomely reflective music, but day by day afterwards you start to realise every flaw, the next discovery heavier than the previous. You should of seen my cringes then. Judging by the mixed comments on this site and the fact that the biggest flaw of all wasn't fixed (the plot diversion), I predict I'll endure the same evaluation. I hope not. I hope it hits me in the face and leaves me in bliss for the rest of my life…

…but if not, then hey. I'll live.

Once they released the game they kind of had to stick with their mistake and just try to answer some questions with DLC. I understand that at least. I don't think we can ask them to do much more than that. Hopefully fans won't be disappointed with the next trilogy.

No spoilers. First I just watched the new endings on youtube and I was just dissappointed, but I realized they never clicked on any of the dialogue boxs in the video nor did they really show what happened before (spoilers) I landed on the citadel (spoiler over). So I downloaded the extended cut dlc and I was then surpirsed to find out how detailed the new ending was. I never once complained about the original ending, just the lack of explanation and this DLC does puts everything in perspective, clears up confusion, and give me a better understanding of the ending. Because of this, I can officially say ME3 is better than ME2. This is the way the conclusion should have always been.

If you're a fan, don't waste time watching the new endings on youtube, gametrailers, etc. Actually experience it for yourself and you should be quite satisfied.

Now if you're one of these idiots still complaining about our choices meaning nothing in the end, rallying for a re-write (indoctrination theory) or just feel like they're are still plot holes…go F*** yourself. The original ending was good, the extended cut bumps it to great. This anger over choices…CHOICES….meaning nothing in the end. First and foremost we are playing a pre-determined story with different paths which we can choose that ultimately lead to the same ending sequence, with 4 differents path to CHOOSE from. Bammm…we have a choice.

None of our choices in ME2 affected the ending, just the path. ME3 follows the same principle, yet gets raped over the internet for it by raging nerds. The original ending left too much to the weak mindeds imagination,so the extended cuts corrects this kink. There shouldn't be anymore confusion.

Second, who ever is still rallying for a rewrite is just pure selfish. This is Biowares gem, they let us experience it at hefty though, but nonetheless it's their work, their creation, their baby. And really, whats would be a better ending. I just want to know because I'm all about storytelling and shit just making sense, and every lick of my ending didn't need any critism minus a few parts. but for the most part I was quite satisfied. Indoctrination theory would have been a nice, but nothing is wrong with this ending. I wish I wish I could change Uncharted 3's lackluster ending or Battlefield 3's terrible story period, but it just isn't that serious.

As far as plotholes go…I don't see any, but then again I didn't play Mass Effect 1. But I'm going by Mass Effect 2 and it's dlc, ME3 stays the course.

All in all, people should appreciate Bioware for puuting in all this work to alleviate bitchass fans complaints. I would have not been so nice. And if you're one of those fans still complaining, you sir or madam need to check yourself and your attitude. *Applaud Bioware*

GREAT SERIES.

Yeah I've waited with finishing ME3 in order for this to be released first. Now I can sit back and enjoy the final version. 🙂

Ok, here is the deal.

I finished Mass Effect (on my 2nd playthrough at this time), soon will move onto Mass Effect 2, and then of course Mass Effect 3.

Now here is the question: Will it affect my experience if I get the DLC ending? I mean, I'm really open minded, and I'm sure I won't get mad after seeing the original ending. But who knows.

the only one of the new endings i like is blue
(there even 2 ways this one plays out depending if your paragon or renagade)

green is still flat out bad

red is still just ok

the 4th all new ending is a good dig at the fans

wonder how much of that will be SP DLC.
my guess none, or very little!
so, so, so disappointed!
ME2 was a freaking masterpiece, so eloquently crafted and so in depth and beautiful!
it felt like every single bit of the game had hundreds of people working on it tossing around ideas, then finally created, than had another hundred people fine tuning it till it was up to perfection!
ME3 though felt like 5 people rummaged the back of a rubbish dump, went to 5 completely different factories, grabbed as many different parts as they could than stuck them together with spit and heres the new game!
not only is there poor parts, but there totally different, and not very well held together!
sorry, bioware but ive forgiven FAR too many of your f*ck ups!
you f*cked dragon age 2 i forgived you, you f*cked up the ps3 port of ME2 and i forgived you, you f*cked up SWKOTR and i forgived you.
sorry, but enough is enough far too many times have you destroyed your franchises!
the studio which created one of my favourite franchises this gen, and in fact one of the best franchises ever made!
is sadly dead to me!
