Ben-DutkaEA often refers to review score averages; they understand that well-received titles sell a whole lot better.
This is why EA Labels boss Frank Gibeau told CVG that he's not satisfied with the scores last year's Need for Speed: The Run received, and he wants to strive for 8+ with the upcoming Need for Speed: Most Wanted .
The difference is that The Run was developed by Black Box and Most Wanted is being created by Criterion Games, a team that delivered big time with various Burnout titles and 2010's Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit . Here's what Gibeau had to say about The Run :
"We're not happy with the reception that we got on Need for Speed: The Run. We tried a lot of new things; we added linear moments and action scenes between level to try and spice it up… but frankly it just didn't come together to the level of quality that I wanted or that the Need for Speed team wanted. So we're going to try something different and Criterion is going to take a shot at innovating in that category.
"[The Run] did well and there's a lot about it that we really liked and were impressed with, but ultimately we want to make 80-90 rated games and it was a bit of a shock to see how poorly received it was with some editorial groups and customers."
Gibeau went on to say they don't ignore gamer feedback but at the same time, they "don't curl up into a ball and cry." Basically, it's all about incorporating that feedback into future projects, and that's good news. We're relatively convinced that the return of Most Wanted will be pretty damn awesome… Remember that part about it being am open-world racer ? Yeah, we're excited about it, too.

Maybe spend more than ten minutes making your NFS games.
If most wanted has the same game play elements as the last most wanted, has the same control of other criterion games, is open world, has a large list of cars, and the cars are customizable, I think it'll be the best racing game I've ever played.

Meant to say, if it's got customization and vintage American muscle, I'm in. If not, still probably in.
If you want the next NFS to do well, stop calling it NFS and let criterion make another burnout….I'm excited for a new Most Wanted, but I'd rather see a new Burnout instead

I think they should bring back the Underground series.
I'm right with you there. I loved Underground 2. Nothing touches it. All it was missing was cops, but that wasn't a big problem at all
I really hope Most wanted is a lot like that one, I been waiting for a good racer for years, well one that is a street racer and is open world. I'm so glad to hear that it will be open world. I can't wait to hear more! I hope it delivers, a big map, a lot of cars, a good number of American makes and customization like crazy, that's the key right there, an open world with amazing customization.
I'm looking forward to more information.

if EA want NFS to sell well all they need to do is bring out a PROPER sequel to most wanted!
as i said before nothing pisses me off more than when companies make new IPs and slap a well known franchises name on it!
this has way more to do with hot pursuit than it does most wanted!
plus add on the fact that every NFS game since hot pursuit has had the sluggish slow heavy controls that have drove me INSANE!
so no thanks EA!
come wake me up when criterion is back on the burnout series!
and god help them if they bring the slow heavy sluggish responsive controls of NFS over to that too!
i like my sports cars handling like sports cars, not semi trailers!
I'm currently playing through The Run now and although it's fun, it also seems quite disjointed in that the racing doesn't seem to flow too well.
Unlike the majority of gamers, I really liked NfS Undercover and would like to see another game in that style.
