Sam Fisher May Be Hollywood-Bound

This could actually be a good movie. No, it really could.

It seems yet another major video game franchise is on the cusp of hitting Hollywood; Deadline reports that Ubisoft's acclaimed Splinter Cell could be the next recognizable series to hit the big screen.

Apparently, talks with Warner Bros. fizzled and now Paramount Pictures is in the driver's seat. We don't have any other information at this time, but there is one extremely crucial element that fans will be happy to hear:

"…Ubisoft will be very involved and retain control over how the game is translated into a film."

Given that, we really do think Sam Fisher would translate very well to movies. They just need a decent script and cast; the stories in this franchise weren't as epic or elaborate as they were in Metal Gear Solid , but they could easily be adapted for the big screen. And after the freakin' debacle that was Splinter Cell: Conviction (sorry, my own personal preference there), I wouldn't mind seeing a decent "Splinter Cell" effort…even if I can only watch it.

I'm guessing Ubi would just make it like Conviction on steroids. Fisher would become an action hero in a PG-13 setting.

Video game movies I avoid. I look forward to the next Splinter Cell. I think it put on for a good show at E3.

I still don't understand why people hate conviction so much. Sure it wasn't 'classic' splintercell but it was a good game (which is why it has an 85% on metacritic). I get that people love the old splintercell and that there's a certain nostalgia there, but if you can get over that-for any series-you will find a lot of games that are really good.

Although they really screwed up in not getting Michael Ironside back…I mean have the young guy do the motion capture and acting but put in Ironside's voice, he IS Sam Fisher.

one thing ill never understand either!
conviction was one of the best games weve seen this gen!
ok it was not the hardcore stealth the franchise is known for, but come on seriously if they released that in todays market ubisoft would of been ripped to shreds!
after playing the HD collection im glad they decided to "modernize" it a bit.
only thing that game was missing was the series patented acrobatics, and the ability to hide bodies.
otherwise it was near perfect!

ah what the hell, we have seen hollywood rape just about everything lately so why not splinter cell too?
id much rather see a AC game though, that would lend itself to the big screen allot better than what this will.
if there going to do it though i hope they make it more of a spy stealth film, proper espionage not that stupid ghost protocol bull sh*t!
