The name Sherlock Holmes is bigger than ever these days.
Atlus has announced that it has obtained the rights to publish The Testament of Sherlock Holmes in North America. It's an all-new detective adventure developed by Frogwares and is the "first such game built from the ground up to take full advantage of the graphics and processing power of the HD generation." It's slated to launch this September for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
With the help of a new engine, players will receive "unprecedented depth and nuance" when examining the crime scene and searching for clues. Furthermore, the developers gave "particular emphasis" to creating a versatile control system that would keep the game accessible and entertaining for console players. All the characters in the game have been motion captured, and we even get the benefit of a new light and shadow system. Said Atlus Vice President of Sales and Marketing Tim Pivnicny:
"We are excited to continue our successful licensing relationship with Focus Home Interactive. Sherlock Holmes is an internationally recognizable brand and one of the most iconic characters in literature, not to mention one of the most enduring, as evidenced by the successful films and television series. We are pleased to be a part of bringing his most provocative, technologically advanced interactive adventure to North America for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners to experience."
Work your way through a very dark period for Holmes, who must utilize every scrap of his legendary skill to triumph in the end. For more information, visit the game's official website .
