Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: Raiden Kicks Ass In “Early 2013”

Well, it may not be this year, but at least it isn't too far off.

During Konami's pre-E3 press conference, the publisher showed off a new Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance trailer, and then confirmed the Platinum Games title was slated to launch "early 2013."

A lot of changes have occurred during this game's development lifespan; it was actually shelved at one point before Konami tapped Vanquish and Bayonetta studio Platinum Games to finish the project. At that time, the time frame was moved (from before the events of MGS4 to after those events; prequel to sequel, ya know?), and any possible stealth elements disappeared. …Platinum doesn't do stealth. And to avoid further confusion, the original name of "Metal Gear Solid: Rising" was changed as well, because it's technically not part of the "Metal Gear Solid" stealth-oriented franchise.

At any rate, the ongoing saga should come to an end in the first quarter of next year. And we really can't wait to see what a collaboration between Kojima Productions and Platinum will be like…

Me neither.

No stealth.
No Snake.
No Kojima.
No thank you.

Wow so it's no longer a prequel? Hmm interesting. This game looks to be back on track with all the features that appeared in the game pre Platinum. That should kill the hate that this game was getting…though I must say I'm slightly disappointed with the story direction. Raiden's ending in MGS4 was such a great, if not perfect, way to close his chapter. Opening it back up and making it work is going to take a lot of talent, but hopefully they can pull it off.

Still, all of MGS story lines should have ended with 4…everything just worked IMO.

From what I saw in the new trailer there was in fact some stealth kills shown so I am thinking some of that negative feedback had to make it to them and they realized that they couldn't just ditch it all together since fans expected some stealth with their Metal Gear whether it be a spin-off or otherwise.

with all my games getting changed from 2012 to 2013 now i only have 4 games to get this year and 5 next year as opposed to 9 this year lol (well thats assuming whether or not last of us is a 2013 game which im hoping it is)

but with 5 games in 2013 already with 2013 not even being "that" close I hope they dont announce any more good games for that year lol

Slick trailer. Platinum really can't disappoint on the action front, can they?

next year is getting fuller and fuller!
really looking forward to this it looks freaking awesome!
i just hope it does not suffer from severe platinumites.
IE seriously repetitive gameplay!
only time will tell……

I hope this does well and is a quality game. Raiden got a lot of discredit but I was still a fan.

Kind of upset that this isn't a prequel now. He had a positive ending at the end of MGS4 and him becoming part cyborg again doesn't bode well for Rose and his son.
