LEGO Lord Of The Rings Set For Fall

It was probably inevitable.

It had been pseudo-confirmed earlier but now we've got the official press release:

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games and The LEGO Group have announced LEGO Lord of the Rings , which will be available this fall for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS, 3DS, Vita, and PC. So basically, every major current system.

Obviously based on the fantasy classic by J.R.R. Tolkien and the wildly popular film adaptations from director Peter Jackson, this new LEGO adventure will follow the original storylines from the trilogy ("The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers," and "The Return of the King"). And although there are quite a few frights along the way, LEGO is always good clean amusing fun for the whole family. Said TT Games Managing Director Tom Stone:

"We are huge aficionados of The Lord of the Rings franchise and are incredibly excited to put our special LEGO family-friendly touch on this classic fantasy adventure. We’ve taken what fans are familiar with and love about The Lord of the Rings films and combined it with the playful LEGO style, which makes the story and gameplay accessible to gamers of all ages."

The One Ring must be destroyed and Frodo Baggins and his intrepid band of adventurers must get the job done. But the Misty Mountains, Mines of Moria, and the nightmarish land of Mordor stand in their way, as does hundreds of nasties, including Orcs, Uruk-hai, and even the Balrog. The good news is that Aragorn the Ranger, Gandalf the Wizard, Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf, and Boromir, Man of Gondor, or more than a match for such evil creatures. Can't wait to play this one!
