Dead Space 3 Pics Hint At Co-Op Play

EA just might unveil Dead Space 3 at E3 next week. I mean, we all know it's coming, right?

But before they make it official, we still have to scrounge around for bits and pieces via the rumor mill. And one reader has pointed us in the direction of All Games Beta , where a surprising set of nine Dead Space 3 screenshots has popped up.

We had heard the upcoming iteration would boast co-op play and it seems these pics "confirm" that. A second character is clearly seen in the action photos, standing beside Isaac Clarke and obviously prepared to assist in the ongoing battle against the necromorphs. Then there are a few wintry screenshots, which make sense, as one of the earliest rumors surrounding this game was that it would be set on the icy planet of Tau Volantis.

As for the cooperative part, that also makes some sense as very early rumors from September of last year indicate a main trio: Isaac, Ellie, and Jennifer. Now, there's no knowing if that's a female in those pics (it's like spotting Samus inside her suit) but with every new piece of evidence, it gets clearer that Isaac won't be alone this time around…

I think its just about that time for a new Dead Space fix so I hope it comes out soon…plus it may be a good idea to bring a friend along to get slaughtered by the necromorphs.

I am on the fence with this. As long as the SP portion doesn't suffer I am fine. However, not sure I want to be going through Dead Space 3 with an AI companion.

You know what would be really great if they offered SP and COOP in the way that if you play SP this new red eyed companion is killed off in the beginning. But if you want to go COOP then he doesn't get killed and either the AI or a friend can control him. This would make everyone happy!!! I hope they release this on Halloween 2012! Nice creepy game to enhance the mood of Halloween!

I agree. Just like RE5, I don't want to baby sit. I had to play it with a friend because of that and when I did it was a lot of fun. Hoping for the same.

''this new red eyed companion is killed off in the beginning. ''

xDDD that's actually funny, hope they do that or something similar I want a solo mode.

The only argument against coop play is that the game gets less scary when you got a good buddy tagging along with you.
Other than that *everything* gets better in coop. This will be awesome.

Totally agree about co-op. I feel the scare factor will suffer as a result. Unless they make it twice as scarey. Loving the new suit designs.

That's good to hear. Hope it's online co-op also, not a fan of sharing my screen anymore. It was tough to play RE5 that way. Anyways looking forward to it!

As a side note: I hope that it's not like RE5 where you were forced to have a companion if you were playing alone. I don't want that. It's either me and a buddy, or I'm flying solo!

I agree with all that. And I take it for granted that the coop is online. It gotta be.

Never gonna be a fan about coop on horror games. I loved Downpour because that game was actually scary and that is what I want when I buy Horror games.

I have doubts about the scare factor if u have a AI SP buddy tagging along with u, guess I have to wait and see.

Cool, I already have DS1 in my huge backlog of games.

A due to one of my 4 yearly free $25 GS gift-cards coming in, I just picked DS2 today not only for free, but with 96 cents in change back to boot also.

You need to get to playing them. I kept putting of DS for a long time, and as soon as I played it I regretted not getting it sooner. And I'm not even a big fan or horror type games.

Seriously put them next in line.

Bigrailer,
You're probably right, but I'm still in the process of turning my living room into a gaming den and because of it, I now have my 10-speaker surround sound setup all unhooked & on the wrong side of the room now.

So I want to wait till I can re-position my wall mounted speakers to correspond correctly within the new area once I'm all done setting my gaming area, so I'll at least scare myself 1/2 to death from any multdirectional screams, moans and, whatever other assorted craziness Dead Space has got going on.

sigh.
looks like the noobification of dead space 2 was not enough!
now they have to turn dead space 3 even more into a mindless shooter!
sigh, can we have 1 game this gen that stays true to its genre?
just one!?
im really getting sick of every game having to turn into a mindless COD wannabe!
originality and uniqueness has become illegal in this industry!
