Square Enix Returns To Profit Thanks To Deus Ex, FFXIII-2

Despite being forced to push Tomb Raider into next year , Square Enix did have some good news today.

According to the publisher's fiscal financial results , the company's Digital Entertainment branch enjoyed a net sales surge of 11.9% (up to 71.9 billion yen/$897.5 million) and a leap of 11.7% in operating income (up to 12.6 billion yen/$157.3 million).

And although they didn't provide us with actual sales figures, Square Enix cited Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution as helping their bottom line. Deus Ex shipped 2 million units at last tally and FFXIII-2 was February's second best-selling title in North America for February (only behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ). Full-year net sales came in at 127.9 billion yen ($1.6 billion), which is up 2.1% in the year-over-year comparison, and profits registered at 6.1 billion yen ($76.1 million), which is way up from the 12 billion yen ($150 million) loss suffered last year.

Is the landing strip cleared for Final Fantasy XIII-3 …?
