Ben-DutkaIt has become a running joke among role-playing and Final Fantasy fans, and Square Enix isn't doing much to convince us the project even exists.
Typically, the publisher is mute concerning the game that was originally announced back in 2007. But at the Square Enix Members Twitter page , some industrious followers thought they'd try to get some answers. One Tweet from a fan includes the words- "The fans demand more info!" We're with you on that. But in response to the question concerning fresh news for the game, the reply was as follows:
"Nope, but look for news soon (soon can mean so many things though really…)"
Wow, that fills you with lots of confidence, doesn't it? It almost sounds like Square Enix has no clue when they'll reveal more details or if they do, such an unveiling is a long ways off. We still remember January of 2011, when we were promised a full reveal in February or March…still waiting on that one, S-E. "Soon can mean so many things?" From some developers, that'd be funny. But here, it's just depressing.

Not sure if was an April joke but I read that they want to release one third of the game and the other 2 parts as dlc -_- hope that isn't true.

I am sure it is not true. If that was the case, it would have been released long ago.
You know…all this time I was planning on getting Versus day one but now I think i'll wait and see if they actually do that…or bs us with a 'to be continued'.

If not I have no clue why its taken 5 years to release. But hey, I'm totally down with long development cycles. Some info would be real nice though.
I try to forget the game exists that way I don't get bummed out thinking about it. That way when it is released it will be like a delightful surprise.

People should kinda stop toying with this beautiful Versus and either spill the details or shut the F! up! Not a child. and yet. Because the world shown so far is fantastical, I just want to lose myself in it.

I have almost given up on Versus. I really am not very interested in it anymore.
I think it is going to be the biggest let down SE have released since XIII.
I'm pretending I'm not interested in it. But honestly if it does manage to get out with its original vision I think it will be absolutely amazing.
I think there are so many issues and delays because SE are a bunch of idiots and probably trying to streamline it in some way to make it appeal to the masses just like every other japanese dev seems to be doing now.

That's not such a crazy idea. Since there is apparently still a FF XIII-3 on the way for current consoles, maybe SE wants to make sure they are actually ready for the next-gen consoles by prepping Vs. III for them (or just PS4, I don't know). Interesting theory.
I sure hope not. If true, the information which is starting to filter out about PS4 is hardly encouraging. I might not be willing to dip into another console cycle, with the way everything in the industry is headed.
Let's have one last blast on PS3, Square, for old times' sake!

I'd doubt it. Versus was originally a PS2 exclusive and if they were to push it back another generation I doubt we'd see it for at least another 5 to 10 years. It's kind of depressing talking about a video game as if it were a prison sentence.
I guess we can only hope that "soon" means E3 or TGS but with the recent comments it appears as though the team is discouraged. Whether or not it's caused by SE pushing the title back yet again or if troubles in development have arisen… yet again, it's discouraging for fans and developers alike.

"Final Fantasy Versus XIII" is apparently Japanese for "Vaporware."
With the way they pumped out 13-2 and everything else that has come out, it's hard to understand why it takes so long for a game to come out. We already know companies use existing software to make games. Huge Hollywood movies don't take this long to get made. I'm a firm believer now in not announcing a game until it's within a year of release. Or better yet don't announce until you have picked out the box art then I'll believe it.

I'm reminded of the frustration I felt as a kid when I would ask my parents for something, and even though they were not really doing anything they would say "in a minute".
I feel like SE is doing what parents do. they are stalling and putting us off because they don't want to tell us anything, and/or they have nothing *to* tell us. Either that or they figure we won't like it and they are hoping that in the summer when there are fewer eyes watching they can sneak out their news without worry…

I would contonue to be annoyed but I am too busy playing games that are actually released.I just bought Persona 1 and it is better than any square game in yeats.I have ni no kuni and tales of xilia which are coming state side.I advise other jrpg fans to support the games that actually release instead of waiting for games from square only.

It's been so long now that Versus XIII no longer excites me.
Square Enix, what on Earth are you doing in there?!?!? 3 Gears of War, Mass Effect and Uncharted games have been released since Vs XIII was announced!!! Trilogies were completed, COMPLETED on current gen consoles since Vs XIII was announced!!!
Little wonder Square Enix's popularity and finances are sliding so far downhill.

This is just stupid now, that the big release everyone is waiting for in terms of this game is the release of some god damb news!!!
If its not coming this year give up people, it wont be coming at all.
The frustrating part is not knowing. We don't know that its coming. We don't know that its not coming. If its not coming I wish SE would just freakin' say that.
Square Enix deserves to close down or a complete change of staff and business redesign starting with the CEO's public resignation.
