John-ShepardSeveral analysts have already said they don't expect Grand Theft Auto V to launch this year and now, the biggest game retailer echoes that prediction.
According to GameStop president Tony Bartel, the next installment in the blockbuster franchise won't arrive until 2013 . GTAV isn't part of the retailer's 2012 forecast, so maybe we shouldn't be expecting a huge holiday release.
When asked which titles will help GameStop most this year, Bartel responded by naming quite a few games, including the various EA sports games, Halo 4 , Borderlands 2 , Assassin's Creed III , Resident Evil 6 , Max Payne 3 , Prototype 2 , Ghost Recon: Future Soldier , and of course, the new Call of Duty . But GTAV wasn't on the list and Bartel explains why:
"In terms of GTAV, we don't have followed information that we can share at this point so we have not put that into our forecast. We would adjust our estimate if we had knowledge that GTA was coming out [in 2012]."
Still, as analysts have said before, GTAV launching in early 2013 wouldn't be a bad thing. Rockstar avoids the big holiday competition this way, and there's no doubt that the game will sell huge whenever it arrives. That being said, we were kinda hoping for sooner rather than later…

I hope their wrong because I need GTA V. I know its unusual for R to release two games within the same year. The way things have been going to past two years there's hardly a period where there's less competition.
i really hope its released this fall. it would be so nice to have a new GTA in october just like the old days 🙂
Yeah if they aren't willing to show anything but that trailer so far then there's no chance for it this year.
As far as those other games go I wonder how the Raccoon City debacle will affect RE6 sales.

Well its gonna help my pockets, because i thought it was gonna be a dry year but turns out i think im gonna get more games this year than last year.
