The first few titles – starting with Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain – were two of the best games on the original PlayStation, and the third – Soul Reaver 2 – was one of the best titles on the PS2. No, really. Look 'em up.
And now, according to VG247 , Crystal Dynamics is currently cranking on a reboot of the franchise. They're saying it's a "full reworking" and it'll boast "a new art direction, too." We might actually see it at E3 but there's no evidence to support that right now. We're also not sure what it might be called; remember, this is technically Legacy of Kain , and the story went through some significant alternations in those first two adventures.
But we'd welcome the chance to play as Raziel again, right? Or maybe Kain…well, whatever, we definitely want to learn more. Crystal Dynamics is also hard at work on the Tomb Raider reboot, and they have hinted at multiple projects in the pipeline.

I never was able to get into this series back in the day. But I'm all for seeing a reboot, action-adventure games, likewise.
Me neither. My high school buddy loved it though.
Yes please, this series has laid in limbo far too long. We need to start reaping souls once again.
Well, at least conclude the series.
Soul Reaver was most epic on Dreamcast, I've still got it. Looking forward to watching this project develop.

Defiance was definitely in my top 5 last gen. What a story the Legacy of Kain series has! Probably my most favorite in a game. Have been waiting for so many years. When Amy Hennig left Crystal Dynamics and joined Naughty Dog, I lost all hope. But now….. hell yeah!!!!
I hope Amy is involved somehow though. Without her I doubt the series will be same. She did a fantastic job with LoK and then with Uncharted too. CD could definitely do with her help again. Unlikely though seeing that she is now in Naughty Dog.

Raziel had such beautiful wings, But Kain was a jealous prick and ruined them!… I can't stay mad at Kain… He too is a cool. 😀
I loved these games. My dad played the original Legacy of Kain on the PC, while later my mom and I played the Blood Omen ones on Xbox/Ps2. 😛
i remember playing this on the PSU demo disc. kept runing it back non stop. liked the environment & action.

Dark Prophecy doesn't ring a bell at all? Kain still had many things to finish, like to destroy Elder God once and for all, stop the new upcoming Hylden invasion and rebuild Nosgoth.
The game never got finished.

Yes please! A fresh reboot with current gen capabilities. Ooooh just imagine. As long as they don't butcher the storyline and character designs (which are already kickass) I can't imagine a new Soul Reaver being anything less than awesome.

Soul Reaver was great! I say let's start it off in the beginning with Kain. Blood Omen and Soul Reaver are classics. When they went to PS2 it the graphical upgrade was extremely welcome. Nosgoth on the PS3..yes please

Although I much prefer continuations to reboots.

Indeed. While I certainly can't help but to be excited, I keep wondering why it has to be a reboot. We've been waiting years to find out how this ends, don't see why make us all wait through the whole story again.
My guess is to invite new players to the series before continuing on.
At this point, I'll gladly accept anything because I lost all hope really. But kinda worried about this new art direction they are talking about. Was perfectly happy how the old games looked and felt. Just don't ruin it CD.
Can they not just make a new fantasy title to a similar nature of the game? I have only really just bought the series (I got a load of them for under 10 pounds overall and just bought Blood Omen off the PS Store). I'm just can't approve of this generation that wants to reboot everything.
I don't feel comfortable with a reboot and yet I can't wait to see what comes of this.
The Soul Reaver games didn't really grab me, Legay Of Kain: Blood Omen is still one of those games I can play now and be happy with. Blood Omen was hands down one of the best games on the PS1.
If this is true then its a D1P for me.
I hope they do make a reboot coz the Blood/Soul (especially the latter) was a great serie.
The Legacy of Kain series would make for a great movie. If done right, it would be as good or better than Lord of the Rings!
Anybody who can appreciate a great story with memorable characters and top notch voice acting should play each game from start to finish.
