Well, there's no point in maintaining online servers when almost nobody uses 'em, right?
Electronic Arts has revealed that more than a few of their games won't be available to play online, starting next month. The servers are going bye-bye.
You can see the full list of game servers scheduled for termination through the link. One of the most notable titles is EA Sports MMA ; its online services will end on April 13. It's also the first EA Online Pass title to lose its online multiplayer servers (although with most everything from EA requiring an Online Pass these days, it won't be the last). The Godfather II (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), Burnout Revenge (Xbox 360), FIFA 10 (PSP, Wii), and Need for Speed ProStreet (PS3, Xbox 360) are also going offline.
Any games on there that you don't want to lose online access for? Probably not. These titles represent less than 1% of peak online activity across all EA games, which is why they're going away.
Meh, they shut down NHL 10 a while back so I haven't been playing EA games on-line since then. I don't much see the point of buying a new sport title every year when it comes out and I only care for hockey so I probably won't be playing again for another year or two.
Interesting, I guess the online pass only grants you limited online play.
This is a touchy subject for me. I hope that down the road companies that use the "Online Pass" adopt a policy that if you paid for one and the servers get shutdown then you should get a voucher for one free Online Pass.
Also if the games have online only trophies I feel they should keep them running. Sure it isn't cost effective, but these developers also didn't need to put online only trophies in the games in the first place. I know there are a few ways of looking at this and mine won't be popular to some, especially those of you with a business degree ;D, but in a way I feel they owe it to the consumer.
This is also why I think online trophies should NOT count towards a platinum trophy.
I'm at 85% in Ghostbusters and I got most of the offline trophies it's the online trophies that is keeping me getting that plat.

Another reason I hate DLC. You buy the DLC and then they shut down the servers. Just think of all the DLC that will be useless, when the servers get shut down.
I don't think they should since the Midnight Club II demo is still online accessable.
Nooo!!!!!
I still play Burnout Revenge to this day!! I always loved its structure and gameplay more than Paradise!!
Quick!! I better get going on those online achievements!! Only got a few basic ones, gotta work my ass off to get the others though, cos Burnout Revenge was listed as a tough game to get all achievements in.
Hi, we're EA, one of the biggest game publishers in the world. We make billions of dollars every year. We can't afford to keep a computer running in a closet. Thanks so much for your passion, and for being such great fans!
all i can say is ignorance is bliss!
The pass thing is so damn annoying. It requires you to have access to the store. And if you check the availability of the Store Vs. availability of the Network
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Store#Availability and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Network#Availability) you will notice that while a lot of countries have access to the PSN, they don't have access to the store. And mine is one those countries.
Thus no access to online features, just because you won't be able to redeem the Online Pass since you don't have access to the store.
