Ben-DutkaWhen it comes to a game as huge as DUST 514 , one just assumes a beta is inevitable.
But until GDC 2012, developer CCP hasn't said much about a public beta test for the game that takes place in the EVE Online universe. However, while we still don't have an exact date, we do have a beta availability window for the highly anticipated MMOFPS: April.
During an informative interview with GameTrailers (see the video below), CCP CEO Hilmar Petursson and CMO David Reid offered up some new information, and also provided a whole lot of new gameplay footage. Then Petursson said:
" It is really about providing this new gateway into the EVE universe for all the people who have been intrigued by it. In April we'll open up the beta test we've been running since December of last year. "
They also wanted to make it clear that DUST 514 isn't EVE Online 's replacement, so fans of the latter don't have to worry about it disappearing. Lastly, don't forget that DUST 514 has gone free-to-play on the PS3, and even Vita owners can check out a "companion app."

I was glad to hear that it became free to play… Hopefully it becomes as successful as Team Fortress 2 did after it became FTP
I've never done a MMO, so I'd like to try this.
But if it's anything like Starhawk's MP beta without any instructions to go by, I remained pretty much clueless so I got my a$$ handed to me in well under a minute each & every damned time I tried it out, by one of those %&^$^& flying jumper guys.
And because of that, there certainly weren't any fun beta nites for me in Mudville, LOL.
Looks fun. Bunch of people at my work play Eve almost religiously, so they are interested to lol.

There is no way i was gonna buy it but since it s free to play it is now showing on my radar .
MAG was fun from the get go of the beta key give out from PSX.
Are we going to have keys for Dust 514??

developers really need to learn how to look at a calendar!
first they release their games up against 150 other game and wonder why they sell poorly, and now there releasing their betas up against 150 other games.
so want to jump into the starhawk beta again especially since they added new features and bikes yesterday, but im far too busy with ME3!
they would of been far better off waiting till june-july where theres 0 games releasing!
kinda hard to stress test servers when everyones busy playing new releases!
This looks kind of fascinating to me, and you sure can't beat the price. I'll definitely be trying it out.
